If I'm in the wrong posting this here, sorry. I figured this would work because where else would the artists go?

I'm very prone to art block, I'm going thru a pretty big slump lately. I wanted to hear what everyone else does to combat it?

I try to force myself to draw a lot, which I did, but now I just feel terrible,,,

I want to see what people think I could work on, seeing improvement does motivate me, and if I can motivate myself? Then, well that's art block all gone.

>Heres<all my art. I'm sure some of you saw some of it in my other request thread.

I know my anatomy, especially limbs, is pretty shoddy, but mainly, I want to hear what inspires you when you're in a slump. Thanks in advance for anyone who tries to help

-sees my Flurry- ;v ; kekkk

What I do is music, straight up.
It inspires me so much; especially if it's going to be emotional to you in anyway.

What I try to do is listen to epic music to make me feel badass, then I go draw and it HELLA helps.
Not sure if music is the same for others, but that's what I do. <3

Yeah, music is a pretty big thing for me, I'm thinking of giving my itunes library a complete makeover. It's filled with mainly grunge-y stuff. which i guess is good when ur feel angry and just wanna sorta let it go, but i guess with art it's not very helpful huh. Do you have any suggestions for music? :- O

Like I said, I listen to epic music and instrumental or ambient/soft techno.
If you were looking for upbeat music, I only got some techno up my sleeve. xD

As for suggestions, you could take a look at this. ^^
It's a collaboration of a few epic pieces by Two Steps from Hell!

Hope it helps! I know art blocks are like SUPER groggy and depressing! (I go through them like, daily...)

OHHHHH I JUST REMEMBERED THIS VIDEO

yeah. i wish it'd just go away. I really wanna plough thru the requests I got. I'm not doing too well healthwise so it's like, I'm feeling weak, which makes me sad, which makes art harder, which makes me sadder and thus my body not able work as well.

it's so very, very annoying

DAT POWAH DOE.

Aww you're not feeling well health-wise? I'm sorry to hear that!
Honestly I don't think I'm as healthy as I think either...

I think you need a break, just go somewhere and enjoy nature or something. c:
That also helps me. Just get away from everything.

Well, to be honest, I try to avoid inspiration. Well, actually, maybe I don't. I mean, I think that creativity comes from places unaltered by all that is around us, or at least should. I try my best not to filter my work through what I see, although I do have to, in one way or another, embrace it.

yeah would if I could. I can't actually go out alone because I'm recovering from blood loss and theres a risk of me collapsing.

lol this thread ain't about art anymore, it's just, warrior complains and gets nothing done ever. i think I'm gonna sleep soon. but would really love if people linked to other artists/music/writing/ANYTHING that inspires them when in an artblock

i wish i could tell you. i always have art block. depression bites.
what has been known to inspire me is my RP that i have with my friend, that helps immensely

also, when i came here, i wanted to draw for people, and i liked streaming and having people watch me. that stopped working though, now im back in my hole.

i hope you get out of your hole soon. best of luck.

also: listening to owl city seems to help. i like drawing to their lyrics.

I just wait it out. I don't want to force/rush myself to draw. When I have creative block, it normally means that I need a break.

unfortunately, for some people, waiting only makes you literally never draw because the block is perpetual and never-ending. this could be rare, and could just be my depression, but i know that "waiting it out" has never worked for me since it never leaves.

I have bad areas of artist block. One lasted for about a year...

I tend to sketch a lot and try new styles. That can help. I also keep all my old sketches so when I can't think of something new, I look through all my old work and hope something I already did will inspire me.

I also love looking at other artists and seeing what they are doing. This can be a little tricky though since you can subconsciously copy them and no one wants that.

Sometimes you just need a break. Forcing it can work for some but not for others.

I honestly just force myself to draw until it goes away

I usually have a lot of tiny tantrums and pull my hair and slam my head on my desk during this (and throw some pencils) though so its probably not a good idea. overloading myself with inspiration helps, too, and watching speeddraws on youtube helps w/ that

i like to watch streams and play skullgirls that seems to get me out of my artblock

i usually sit down, and play some of the khr ost till i feel better lol u v u
but omg art block is the worst! but your drawings are lovely n v n ♥︎

^This right here explains EVERYTHING about me. ;A;

huh so the general concensus is, force yourself. It's not even that I lack Ideas? it's just I can't get things to look how i want. at all.

hopefully it goes away soon!! Thanks for all your responses!
