Are your villagers really important to you?

Villagers also just make the game much more fun for me, i couldnt cope if i had all villagers i don't like.. for instance i definitely can't see myself restarting this file, due to the layout but also largely due to the fact i have Apple, Willow, Mitzi & Rolf and I love them all, they definitely add one of the most crucial elements for me..

I will be trying to keep one spot open for rotation
:)
I'm getting Lopez as my sixth tomorrow, and hes a villager ive never had before, but then a few days later Vesta will be arriving and shes my all time favourite, so it is a mix

Having good villagers is pretty important to me, but not necessary. As long as I have at least 4-5 that really I like then that's fine but ideally I want to love all of them. Also, I kind of bonded to villagers that aren't really "favourites", I'll probably end up keeping them.

There aren't many animals out there that I love for reasons of personal history (from past towns) and nostalgia, but one of these is Melba. :) The others I especially like are because of their appearance or "tastes" -- like their interior decorating, music, clothes, hobbies, and so on. Since an animal's personality is the same as many other villagers, little differences like that make a big difference for me, but I also take friendships and interactions into account; an animal I didn't like at first can grow on me.

In general, though, I admit that interacting with villagers is not the main draw of the game for me. In some games, like AC:WW and AC:GC, I think it was better. The villagers repeat themselves a lot and the constant "will you bring me a fruit?" request in this game makes it seem unrealistic to real life. :/ I'm more into building up my town, gardening, decorating, collecting, stuff like that. I might base my dream villagers in New Leaf on how the exterior of their houses look. I have Drift in my town and his house is such an eyesore every time I walk by. I'd like to have pretty houses in my town.

I get the point of most of your opinions, but i honestly think that we strive for perfection all the time, little by little. I want to complete my house with all the series, I want to get villager's pictures, etc. When i get those items, i feel a sense of accomplishment and joy, but at the same time, a slight disappointment due to the fact that i don't have anything to strive for anymore.

Well, anyways, i like the discussion right now, and this is also somewhat of an intended bump on thhe thread :P

New leaf was my first AC game, so I didn't have any biases going into the game. I do have a couple cute villagers though (Bluebear and Vesta!! 8D), and a villager who I am not particularily fond of (Octavian). My villagers picked their homes in really nice locations :/ Otherwise, they aren't too important to me, haha. Although seeing some wander around is kinda cute, plus their silly little talks amongst each other are always amusing to read.

Some of my villagers are important to me, such as Whitney because there's a lot of nostalgia there for me. I had Whitney very loyal to my town in WW so to have her in NL is great to me and I don't want to let her go. My other current villagers I'm more passive in my interest for them. I like them but Whitney is my star. >:P

I think villagers are pretty important and they're one of the things that makes the series how it is. In Wild World I really wanted a town full of bunnies so I hacked them in and messed up the town. I won't be doing that again but they're really important to me.

I don't really have the nostalgia thing going, because I only ever played Wild World, but don't really remember it much. However, I had two pigs in my village (Agnes & Lucky) only liked one of them and hoped that the other would move. When I registered here I also found the Give Away and Exchange thread (naturally) and now I do actually care about the villagers I have and was introduced to time travelling to have more control over who's leaving and who stays. I gave away the ones I didn't like and tried to get only ones whose design and personality I like~ For now I'm content and just hope I can stop people from moving away :3

Villagers are really important to me. I'd love to meet more of the new ones, (and I never spoiled myself too much there so I am still meeting ones I haven't seen before) and I'd love for some old favourites too. After playing AC for almost 9 years there's a lot of nostalgia in it, and with that some huge grudges against certain villagers. (Pinky you stole my Jingle Piano and I'll never forgive you!) But I will always let my 2 least favourite villagers move, even if I have 10 amazing ones, for the sake of change and to collect some pictures. xP

I have 2 towns, so when 1 had a handful of deer and a couple old favourites, while the other had some hideous beasts and the rest were villagers I had in the past that I was indifferent to, I gravitated towards one of my towns. So much so I hardly ever played the other one almost entirely due to villagers. ~ and that town was actually 2 days ahead in progression! But due to lack of playing it fell behind, then the only villager I actually liked in that town moved and now I've restarted that game. So yes, villagers matter to me.

Yea I think villagers are important for me anyway since there in the game and there's so many villagers people want. I always like the villagers on my GameCube version since they gave me so many memory and I think getting the villagers you want is part of the game aswell I didn't care tho in city folk or wild world for some reason xD

I just started with the villagers that came with the map with the features I wanted. Then I made friends with them :) Timbra started as my arch-rival in town and her house is right beside mine. Now she's my best friend and I never want her to leave. Most of my other villagers I like but would happily let most of them move.

There are a handful of villagers I'd love to have (Apple. any deer, any monkey, Meringue, any koala, Naomi, Pietro) and several I really don't want but generally I just go with the flow of the game. Just yesterday Wart Jr moved in, I was expecting not to like him but when I saw him I remembered he was one of my original residents in Wild World and I like to think he remembers his time in Ukhville all those years ago.

I do like trying to form friendships and attachments to the villagers and sometimes it's the ones I least expect to like.

As soon as I heard about Marshal (then, Jun) I had to have him when New Leaf came to the states. :c
I still haven't gotten him but I don't think I enjoy the game as much with villagers I don't particularly like. Fortunately I have 3 that vary from "I don't mind" to "I like them."

Oh gosh, I remember restarting my town for hours on release day for Marshal and didn't get him. q n q I was not a happy camper. Villagers are super important to me because they're part of the town.

YES! :D NONE... NOT ONE OF MY WOLVES ARE GOING TO MOVE! :D Also Fauna and Boone can't move either. :D :D :D They're my babies :D

I really like my villagers, I don't want Golde,Blanche,Elvis or Bam to move from my town..I really like them!

Yeah I think villagers are sooo important or else the game would be boring!
I personally love my villagers and a lot of them I wouldn't trade for. (Except for maybe Jay and Shari.) My favorite two are Melba and Zell but I do really want Tutu in my village. I probably won't reset the game because of them.

It just makes the game more fun for me now that I have most of my favorites that I had back when I first started with the series. it's a nice plus to playing the game, but I also have had villagers that just randomly moved in that I ended up liking as well!

I'm a picky person, so villagers are important to me~
While I do try to keep open minded about new villagers, I would still prefer others.

Hah hah. You too? XD It took me a couple hours of restarting to realize that smug and uchi villagers weren't part of the starting five. Optimistic, I went ahead with the game... then came the villager reset trick which I learned about just too dang late. Dx
