Are turnips really worth it?

I've only bought a few hundreds of turnips last Sunday, and I notice people at The Trainstation forums, post how much their Re-tail sells turnips for. ( at least around 500 ) So I sold my turnips, and got 3 million. I was pretty happy because I was broke. So I was wondering, how many turnips do you buy when you at least get around 20 million or so? I know it'll be a lot, but is it really worth it?

I've never gotten more than 1 mil worth. When I did and sold them at 636 bells per at a friend's town I got a 4mil profit. So that's 3mil profit ^^ I'd say its worth it to do it once a while

Depends how many you buy and what you sell them for :3 but if you get it right then I think it's worth it

There isn't an exact relationship. It depends how much you buy them for to how much you sell them for.

I usually buy around 1 - 1.5 mil worth of turnips, because that's how much I can fit in my locker xD
I would buy a whole locker of turnips but for now I don't have the space & I'm too lazy to take everything out of my locker just for turnips so I haven't bought turnips recently. <:

Hm. I've only tried it a couple times and never bought that many, and at around 91 bells per. Never got around to selling them though. Honestly, I'd never try again unless they were at 60. I check every time Joan comes but? eh.

I usually buy 4 lockers each Sunday.

Each locker holds 18,000 turnips.
So if you sell them at a price of 600, you'll make 10.8 Million per locker.
If you tip, which a good tipping price is 1 million per locker, you make 9.8 million.
If you buy 18,000 turnips at an average price of 100 bells per turnip, you spend 1.8 million.

Total profit: 8.8 million per locker which will net you a total of 35.2 million bells in profit if you sell 4. (Remember, I'm talking at a price at around 600.)

So I guess you only need to buy 3 lockers to get 20+ million if you intend on tipping.'

Also take this into consideration:

- A general turnip sell run takes about 30 minutes.
- Buying turnips takes around 20 - 30 minutes (I'm assuming.)

If you have 4 characters with 4 lockers loaded, it'll take you around 3-4 hours to sell and buy all of your turnips. I think it generally takes me 4-5 hours, but I take breaks and such.. Also depends on if someone will let you sell multiple times, or if you have to find different people to sell to.

Amount per Joan buying price per locker. Buying and tipping deductions not included:

@ 600: 10.8 million.
@ 550: 9.9 million
@ 500: 9 million
@ 450: 8.1 million

I've been doing turnips for 2 months now, so these are just my calculations.
