Are there some parts of your island that cause framerate drop?

Someone in another thread on this topic suggested that memory leak contributes to this, and that turning off the switch fully (not leaving it in sleep mode) should help. Might be worth trying if you don't do that already?
I never use sleep mode and I've never had any lag/framerate drops, just occasional pop-in with the pyramid item.

I've had some framerate issues in one spot on my island, where I have a bunch of flowers covering the entire ground nearby a waterfall. It isn't too surprising to me, just due to the fact that all the flowers (+ waterfall) would have their animations running at the same time.

I don't think this has happened to me yet. Although, I've gotten that error (don't know what to call it) when you enter Harve's house and your character is thrown upwards .-.

I experience slight frame drop around the part at the back of my heart pond near Poppy and Beau. I have rows of tulips, items placed around and near the houses, a small waterfall at the back, and a little presidential suite area there so that might be causing the issue. It's a little annoying when I pass by the area.

I removed all of my floor lights and the drops seem to be gone. As much as I love the floor lights, it's not worth the performance hit. Give it a try if you have floor lights in the area.

I didn’t know that people had frame rate drops. Is it possible to check your frame rate?

I've never had framerates drops yet. Even when my flowers were out of control and I had them everywhere. Though I do completely shut down my game every time I'm done playing and I wonder if that helps avoid the problem.

I have lots of items placed near my entrance and I do realize that if i run around and stuff, things do start popping up and then disappearing when I go slightly off frame. It actually kind of reminds me of pokemon sword/shield where pokemon popup when you get close to them and disappear when you leave a certain radius

absolutely every single place with more than 30 flowers in frame. it gets really finicky when it rains. pretty frustrating tbh, because it's not as if this isn't the whole point....of the game. to have things out and about on your island. lmfao

Okay so apparently shutting down or restarting my Switch solved the lag problem in my island, but i dunno if that's just a coincidence or not

Not on mine, but I have seen it on a friend's island. She likes to decorate much more heavily than I do.

I've noticed it while visiting random players islands that have a lot of furniture or waterfalls in one area. Quite annoying :(

The reason for slowdowns / framerate drops is pretty clear, I think. High poly count owing to large number of objects in one area of the island. I am able to replicate the slowdowns consistently too. One some occasions, the game engine has to redraw some objects as well which might be causing additional framerate drops as objects are loaded into memory and being drawn on the screen. Don't forget that the whole island is like a giant cylinder and that might be the reason why objects (even though not visible) still get processed? Need some tech experts on this!

I only have one spot right now where I've really noticed framerate drops. It's the place on my island where I have all the orange hybrids and green mums that I plan on using around my island. Everywhere else on my island is fine, but once I get to this large field of flowers it just can't handle it.

My streets are like that and it kills me having to run around while lagging

With my old town I had like a hundred flowers in one area and it slowed down a lot. Since then I try not to have too many flowers in the same area
