i think for furniture it's mostly based on their color scheme/favorite color or theme which you'll see in their interior, following new leaf's pattern. but i guess you're right for clothes as snooty would usually like more classy clothes, peppies likes cute, and lazies would love basic etc. is there a database for the "type" of clothes and furniture yet? they're not as varied as the previous installment so i feel like it's more based on color now.

I read that lazy villagers like fruit, and it seems my normal/sweet villagers love flowers, so that's worth noting, but nothing I know of for cranky or smug villagers

noted! i completely forgot about fruit requests omg. they stopped asking for it! might give to punchy & jeremiah today <3 unfortunately no perfect fruit to make it more special
i think you're right about the flowers as well. lyman was my starting villager and i couldn't stand his house looking so plain and gave him some flowers for decoration but his reaction is not the same as i got from shari (uchi) and marina (normal villager) lol. i believe uchi's love flowers too as they talk about it often.

According to the Official Guide, villagers like a certain style of gift. They also apparently will gain higher friendship with you if you wrap the item.

Depends on the animal.
Wart Jr for example who is a cranky has a favourite style of simple and their favourite colours are blue and purple.
By comparison Gruff who is also a cranky has favourite styles of cool and Gorgeous and their favourite colours are black and purple.

I noticed that villagers can tell when an item is expensive. Furniture generally seems to do well. Havent had much luck with clothing but I imagine they work based on color (similar to what I assume Label goes off of).

Fang’s style is simple and cool and their favourite colours are white and aqua.
Raymond is Elegant and cool with his favourite colours being Black and grey!

This is so helpful! I've been trying to figure Katt out but it has been so difficult. I thought her favorite color was yellow. I was way off! I was headed down the right path with cool clothing though.
