Apologies if this has been asked. Was curious if it might be similar to ACNL with amiibo cards, or TTing until that ping (or in this case, thinking emotion) would pop up. Didn't want to rush moving amiibo cards in just yet. Any help is appreciated!

Amiibo works if you have ten villagers already. They have started pinging me to leave after I got up to ten villagers as well.

ouu! do you get to choose who to kick once you attempt to move an amiibo card in past 10 villagers?

I've done this. If you are at 10 villagers, go through the amiibo's dialogue you are trying to move in and they will say something about there not being any housing available. If you keep talking to them it will let you choose who to kick out.

Yes, you pick who moves out.
First day you scan them in and craft something for them. They say they'll think about moving in. Second day same thing. Third day, you scan them in, craft something, and they finally agree to move in. They ask you which villager they should talk to about taking their spot and you pick from your list of ten

Cool, are the first two able to move out as well? :)

Amiibos most likely. Otherwise, use the New Leaf technique where 1 villager will tell you they are moving every 3 days. Just don't ignore the villagers you hate.
