Are all theese 'Racing Kart games' just to similer?

Hiya,
With the Recent Release (or soon to be released idk) Sonic+ Sega Racing stars it made me think:
Are theese games just to similer?
as in:
Mario Kart,
Sonic+Sega Racing Stars
Crash Bandicoot Racing games
etc.
We see theese games and theres ALOT of similarites, you race around tracks as a character in cars/carts/other vehicles throwing 'Items/Weapons' from the games at each other to hinder the other players and help yourself.
IMHO the only one of theese games which has any differance are the Crash Bandicoot ones since we saw a Story mode which meant you did more than just race, In Nitro Carts you got battle modes and Boss Races, in Nitro Karts 'Double dash' (I think thats it) you didnt JUST race, you could play as Crash in the classic Crash fashion, even hunt out 'funny deaths' and things like that. Also Nitro Karts let you make your own battle maps and DD let you 'Combine' Karts with other people so you could do more damage!
I havent seen anything THAT amazing from Mario Kart since they havent done anything which is that brand new, the only objection is the GCN one where you could race with two people.

Essentially Mario Kart hasnt really changed itself over the years and has stayed the same, only adding the Wi-Fi ability.

So.....Will Sonic be a Mario Kart or what? I think it will be and therefore its not worth buying imo.

That aside, they're definitely too similar. Pretty sure they're all based off the original (Mario Kart). They're trying to make munneez.

Think of it as the Zune to the iPod.

Have you played a demo of it yet? It may be a lot like Mario Kart (but it's hard to make a kart racing game that isn't like Mario Kart, since Mario Kart defined the genre), but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's really fun, no matter how similar to Mario Kart it is. It's a different game with different characters, different courses, and different features, so it's a completely different experience, even if it has its similarities.

Well, Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing were actually pretty different, Sega All-Star Racing could be a Mario Kart ripoff or it could be completely different game altogether.

They're racing games, what differences are you expecting? XD

Now, if there were things like Diddy Kong Racing had, mainly the airplane and hovercraft, then it might be different. But it's still racing and it can't get much different than that.
But that doesn't make it any less fun.

LBP is one of the best games I've played on the PS3 (just make sure you can use online on your PS3).

Nothing amazing. the Only one which has any difference is the Crash Bandicoot ones.

Mega has a point, a solid one at that.

It's a genre, just like these 'kart racing' games, as you put it.
They're similar because they're meant to be similar.
Shootings games, platforming games, puzzle games, they all have multiple games that all have the same similarities. It's just changing the people, the places, the time, and the story. But it keeps the same element.

Gran Turismo (R.I.P i heard)
Metal Gear Solid
and other Shooters/racing games.

I looked at the adverts for L-B-P and wanted it IF it was like that.
So you can make your own characters and your own worlds? Sounds awesome to me

Yeah, you can do almost anything in LBP. And Gran Turismo isn't dead, it's just the PS3's Duke Nukem.
