Are all furniture color variations locked like NMT items are?

Does anyone know if the color variations for furniture that you find in Nook‘s or in balloons is locked to one color like it is for NMT items? Because I notice I always seem to get the same color furniture in my shop and from balloons, despite there being several variations. I’m starting to worry about this.

Though it may feel like it, the answer is no (other than the seasonal items like the retro fan and surfboard).

I’ve gotten other variations through shaking trees and gifts from villagers. So it’s not impossible, just might be less likely. Though I do think the Nook Shop sells mainly one variation per furniture item.

I have found that I get the same color variations in Nooklings, but I get different colors from balloons, villagers, etc. For example, I have only seen the brown rattan furniture in my store, but the other day got the wardrobe in black from Redd and white from a balloon. I have also read online that someone speculated that color variations were locked in Nooklings, but I don't think its officially confirmed

iirc there was a datamine that confirmed Nook’s only sells one variation of each item? I’ve done a ton of TTing and this is true is my experience. For example, I’ve ever only seen the cute set in pink/white, the imperial set in red, the antique set in natural, etc. You can get different color variations from balloons, shaking trees, and Redd.

Yes, a large selection of items at nooklings are color locked.
On one hand it's easier to get a full set, on the other hand it's a money grab to get people on Nintendo Online.

I don't think so. Although most of the time you the the same color of the item so you are left feeling that you only get one color variation. I did notice that I only get 2 color variations sold though. For example, I only get the brown and white rattan variety. Or the blue and black imperial variety.

I agree that other colors come from the trees, balloons, Redd, and mail.

the shops sell the same color always, and you can only get any variation from balloons, shaking trees, redd or gifts. and i think sometimes from mystery islands, but that’s rare.

let’s make it clear that you will NOT get it in different colors in nook’s. no matter how many people say “yes you can” some might say that we could, but they are just being forgetful or they are mistaking specific items like the arcade games as different colors, because they’re not—they’re different items. even the tools are locked, but you can customize it.
