Anyone know how to delete a character in this game?

I'm guessing if I delete the save data for that profile, it'll delete the villager BUT- as long as it's not for the main character (the representative or whatever), it won't delete the island, right? Or is there another way?

I realized I missed an amazing opportunity to name one of my villagers something and I want to "fix" it by recreating her

i dont think the game allows you to delete the main profile. You ca delete alts on the load screen but be sure you removed everything from storage or the house because those would be deleted as well. Villager will remain the same.

Yah, I don't want to delete my main character, just a side one. And I'm planning on moving everything out before I delete her! I'll have to repay off all her loans, but that's no big deal. In fact, I kinda like it, since it gives me something to save for again
And thanks! I always forget about that little "settings" thing on the title screen, but now I realize that's what I need

And, yes, I meant name the character- obviously I can't name an animal villager
If anyone's curious... my main character's name is Cat. I thought of the idea that she comes from an all human town but always related better to animals, hence why she moved to an animal island when she had the chance. Her old rival who happened to move to the same island I wanted to be sort of the opposite of her, but "Dog" isn't a name. So, I named him Doug. I originally had a character in my previous games named Holly and I recreated her as sort of a bubbly girly-girl. And I decided that she'll be Doug's little sister.
But now I think... WHY OH WHY did I not name her Bunny Like, seriously. I've already decided that aspects that made me name of Holly are no longer part of her character, so it was the PERFECT name. Plus, I have her use the buckteeth in her appearance... so, really, it was a terrible missed opportunity.

...Not that anyone needs to know any of that, of course, but there ya go

lmk if you need a set of golden tools. That is the way I pay off the first loan of 5k nook miles.

You can delete a side character by pressing the "-" key during the loading screen and you can talk to Tom Nook to erase that character.

Bunny sounds like a great name for villager.
