For music-- there's K. K. Dirge. Acnl wiki says the song is "extremely slow, dark, scary, and eerie - the word dirge means a song or poem of lament and sadness, often referring to a dead person." I just bought it from T&T and added in my stereo. Didn't listen to it til the end but if you are making a scary house, that song would be perfect.

I use this song in my houses. It's amazing! Hypno is also pretty good, but has a more modern vibe to it. Oh! The creepy set also has a bunch of cool items in it that you can use. Here is my main room:

I tried last year to make a Halloween themed town, not the movie but another scary one...anyway it didn't turn out so well so am overhauling it changing some pwps and making my alts house into the scary house if can, may not be ready until next Halloween lol. At my rates, also getting right villagers there, more sheep would be good and wolves, moved around.
That town does have two full extra Halloween sets the creepy and the other one whose name I am forgetting due to being tired but both the Halloween sets I have doubles on. If need them pm me.

You could use the water bird to make that creepy creaking sound and then hide it behind a book case or something. I saw someone else do that once and I was freaking out because I couldn't find the source of the creaking and I had to leave the house because the creaking was making me bug out.
