Or has anyone got a complete catalogue in their sights? I originally thought when coming back to PC that I had missed out on a bunch of items that I would easily have been able to get if I had been around for their events, but seeing the direction the fortune cookies have taken, I can see that even if I had been playing religiously there would be no way I would've been able to keep up with catalogue completion unless I had paid for Tickets.

So I would like to ask if this is even something you guys who have been playing religiously think is even realistically attainable for the average player?

I’ve played nearly every day, sometimes for only ten minutes sometimes all day since around the time of the US launch even though I’m Australian, I missed the Aussie launch. I wanted to have a complete catalogue when I started. I don’t have a complete catalogue. I don’t pay for leaf tickets so I’d never have been able to complete any of the fortune cookie sets. I have everything from the early events, but as the events moved on and there were leaf ticket items I’ve had to let stuff go. I was saving up for a background and I spent a lot of leaf tickets on that. Had I not bought the background then I might have had a bit more stuff.

I think we are getting more leaf tickets lately so you can get a good amount of cookie stuff but not the whole sets. The way the cookies work mean even if you spend hundreds of dollars on leaf tickets you still probably won’t get a complete set. You can certainly get all of the clothes and furniture from the market place and crafting. You can get all of the event stuff if you have good friends who share bugs and if you fish a lot with a golden rod during fishing tourneys.

So the way you see it we aren't really meant to be able to complete the catalogue, rather we're more meant to just grab everything that seems interesting to us? That's what I'm starting to see from all this but it's a real shame since I'd love to be able to 100% it.

If you mean from the cookies, nope, not me at least, never completed any of them, and I actually spent quite a damn lot at the beginning with the Marshall cookies. Nowadays I don't care about cookies anymore.

About the catalog of other events, yeah I usually complete them.

When I first started playing the game, one of my goals was absolutely completing the catalog; however, when they added fortune cookies and event items that cost LT, I had to rethink what my goal was. Fortunately, the cookies and events are separated into the "special" catalog, and I know I will not complete that unless trading is added to the game. My goal for that now is to complete as much of the special catalog as possible without using LT & so far I've only missed three items that I could have obtained without LT: the wedding-party table, white wedding shoes, and white formal pants. My playtime was a bit low during that scavenger hunt, and I was a bit burned out on all of the events, but I have collected every other "free" item from every other event since the beginning. Now, when we have items that cost LT, I only buy the stuff I'm genuinely interested in. I ended up buying the LT mario event items, and I ended up regretting it because I don't particularly care for those items.

Now, let's talk about the other catalogs! I still have a goal of completing the furniture and clothing catalogs, and I'm getting close! I have 332/338 of the clothes and 835/921 of the furniture. Below is the breakdown of what I still need...

MISSING CLOTHES
- 3 floral shirts
- 2 friendship level tops (from the new villagers)
- Pharaoh's Outfit (from the fortune cookies)

MISSING FURNITURE
-28 pictures (working on leveling all villagers to 20)
-19 special request items
-19 floral furniture items (mostly tulip)
-13 craftable items (from the new villagers/will be crafted in the next three days)
-4 floral bears (all tulip)
-2 OK motors furniture items
-Nook's Model Home (fortune cookie item)

Ideally I will complete the furniture and clothing catalogs soon, and then it will just be upkeep by crafting any new furniture and leveling any new villagers to get the shirts, photos, and unlock the special request items. I will have a bit of work to do on the floral furniture & garden events do tend to get in the way of that, but I'm nearly done with all the pansy items, so I will focus on tulip items from there. The thing I'm dreading most about finishing the furniture catalog is spam playing the OK Motor mini game, but I'm nearly maxed out on FP, so it needs to be done eventually. Anyhoo, if you're a competitionist like me, the best thing you can do is redefine what a complete catalog is for you. Maybe you just want to collect all of the regular furniture, or maybe you want to work toward those floral items. Even though I can't have a fully complete catalog because of the special category, I still find it satisfying to work toward completing the catalogs I can. Also, part of me is still hopeful that trading will be added down the road, and when/if that happens, I will very likely start working toward a fully completed catalog, and hopefully by then everything else will be done. Anyhoo, sorry for the long winded post & unnecessary breakdown. I'm just a nerd, and I actually enjoy going through my catalog to make my nerd lists of goals to work on.

Guess it depends what you consider in a complete catalog aha! For the special event sections, that’ll be pretty much impossible (unless you want to spend tons of money on leaf tickets to get stamp cards for when they are reissued, but the amount of money that would be is almost unthinkable I imagine loool) and even people playing from the start would find it extremely difficult to do without paying a hell of a lot on leaf tickets due to the amount of premium and fortune cookie items. I personally wouldn’t count this in the catalogue since a lot of it is very leaf ticket oriented loool. It also doesn’t have a counter on the main catalogue page (like the clothing, furniture, amenities and other sections do) so that might help you forget about it a bit. Certainly helps me!

Everything else, I don’t see why it can’t be done if you really aim for it! I am curious whether the “Other” section is possible though, since there are a few fishing tourney fish included and those don’t seem to be possible to get anymore. I know I’m missing a few from the one fishing tourney I missed, so I don’t know if it’s possible to fill that gap!

I think the best way to do it is find the sub sections you like and could complete (like the tops in clothing, maybe the amenities or the flowers) and go from there! Completing little goals are still satisfying, and all work towards a larger goal if that’s what you’re interested in! Other than that, I suppose just focus on going for whatever items you want to have. Good luck with the catalogue sections if you choose to attempt to complete some of them! :p

I missed all the fishing tourneys and the like so I have a whole bunch of Other spots not filled but I have a feeling they may come back in the future. It's the fortune cookie stuff that I'm most bummed about but knowing that nobody else seems to think it reasonable it makes me feel a little better. It would be awesome if the non special and other categories were the only ones transferable catalogue-wise to the Switch game.

I'm hoping they repeat the new year event again. I started playing this year in February so I missed that, and they had a bunch of cute things I really wanted
