Anyone else refuse to trade outside of TBT?

I know the AC community has a really great reputation, but my experience between TBT and Discord trades has been so vastly different and frustrating. I regularly get ghosted / flat out blocked on Discord after we agree to an offer while im sitting and waiting in the airport and I'm just so tired of it. Not to mention it's much more anonymous so I have a lot of issues moving forward with any trades. I might just leave the servers entirely so I don't have to see a bunch of people offering items I need, but then sitting here having a crisis deciding if it's worth my sanity.

edit - I made this thread in a fit of rage after yet another bad experience, but I think the takeaway from this is that moments like these really make me appreciate this forum and the community / stability it offers. Regardless of the recent changes in the AC community as a whole, TBT really does continue to be a stand out to me and what seems like many others~!

I don't have that policy, but at the same time, I don't see the need to trade elsewhere. I can get everything I want here. I've been trading here for years and have only encountered kind, trustworthy, and even extremely generous people. I am sure there's some bad eggs. There always are. But I haven't run into them myself. No need to fix what isn't broken by trying to trade elsewhere.

Absolutely. I feel like there's so many good people in the Animal Crossing community but some people are just....really bad lol. Other communities tend to have an incredibly bad feedback system. When I used to go on Reddit their feedback system was a thread for that person on another subreddit that was a little difficult to find and it just made rating people and finding ratings way more difficult than it was worth. Not sure if that's changed but some other sites still follow the same kind of thing or have no feedback system at all. It's just easier on TBT because you can view a person's ratings immediately. I also prefer the community here to other sites!

I typically feel the same way, but the discord channels also move significantly faster so if you're just trying to pick something up really quickly, say while you're in the middle of a good terraforming flow, it can be really helpful. Obviously, with the frequency of inconsiderate traders I come across, maybe I'm not really saving time lol

I love trading here on the forum since it seems so cut throat and hardcore on places like discord. But I do go to discord for rarer items since they are easier to obtain there. Otherwise I'm generally always on here

I'm more comfortable with TBT since I bought and trade so much when NL was popular. I only met one bad apple, but that was in 2014 and I haven't encountered another person like that since! I love this community and I hate how most places are anonymous.. thats why I love TBT

Discord/nookazon/twitter trades are much more convenient since there are a lot more people and are often a lot quicker, however you have the risk of getting scammed as there's no rating system or trust like with TBT. I use both depending on what im looking for! TBT normally for more expensive things or things I don't need urgently
EDIT: as well, sometimes i get the anxiety of "is this worth a whole new thread?" if i want just a couple items off a wishlist, and for that discord is normally much better

I run a cycling thread, and if trades include villagers then I do trade in discord as well. I usually manage to sell off my “”””ugly”””” villagers there so much more easier. No one wants them on here hahah. The difference between the people here and there are yeah, different. Everyone’s so nice and understanding here on tbt whereas in discord it’s more like a “trade and kbye” thing, it’s sad but I’m glad to see my babies go to new homes c:

Edit: yeah I agree! It’s really based on what you’re looking for. Easier to get rarer stuff there since there’s so many people on it

I actually found a lovely discord server that people constantly offer things free or ask for little to nothing, and I find it much more of a positive environment than the one that TBT now has. We all share trips to shops, visits to Sahara and Celeste, and no one asks for entry fees or anything really. We all just share, I've seen no greed like I have on here now. I don't even look on the trades on here anymore.

I don't trade outside of TBT. Tried Nookazon and I hated it, and I don't really use discord outside of voice chat with irl friends. I feel like TBT gets less traffic than other places, but that's not really a bad thing to me. I'm easily overwhelmed anyway lol.

Discord is so hectic and fast paced that sometimes it's more fast to find something you want, while here I need to keep checking on threads. I always look here first, then go to discord, though. But it's not that bad, I had multiple times where I posted that I was looking for something and I got offers selling me the item for the price they payed at Nook's. I have the impression they are just casuals lurking the chat. I always raise the price because I feel bad (but most times they just said they didnt care and refused).

I definitely don't do trades outside TBT. Maybe turnip exchange, but that's about it.

This was the first and only community I ever joined for animal crossing. And it's proven the test of time with it's great members and staff that it still holds up great to this very day.

I trade here mostly, but I do speak different language other than English. So during ACNH, I do trade with others on different communication APP.

Sometimes I find TBT is a lot slower compared to the larger Discords, usually when Americans are asleep (which is when I want to trade ;A. I've had better luck finding homes for villagers on Discord than here. Sometimes threads just get buried too.

But I LOVE the feedback system here, which is what makes TBT so great.

i definitely don't do business anywhere other than here. i don't know of any other place that has a thorough feedback system, and where there is a sense of actual accountability.

i use reddit/discord when i need something fast, and i've only recently started trading/doing stuff on TBT. nookazon especially is great in terms of convenience, but i decided to stop making it my go-to because of the rampant greed, rudeness, and lack of trading etiquette. i want to switch to using TBT as my primary trading spot now since everyone i've talked to has been so kind and i feel a lot safer about who i'm trading with here.

Glad lots of you share my sentiment. I think TBT has spoiled me quite a bit which has made me so hesitant about doing Discord trades and feel the sting a little bit harder than I would in other games when I experience bad trade etiquette

i wouldn't say i would never trade outside of tbt.. but it's definitely much more convenient and reliable for me to trade here than anywhere else right now, even though it's not as fast-paced as something like discord.

I have traded on Nookazon and have found items that I normally can't find here, but a little more expensive. Still TBT is my favorite place and I love this community.
