Anyone else like having weeds on their island?

please i couldn't figure out a better way to word this

We left Animal Crossing for over a month and then decided to come back, and noticed "oh huh, the weeds look pretty cool". Cut to spending today purposefully planting weeds around the island to make it look good.

I think it gives a more wild/natural feel, and it makes the terrain look very cool and honestly kind of pretty. It also fills the island in a more subtle way than filling it with flowers, and there's no risk of trampling them, and look awesome combined with flowers. You just need to be careful planting them around fruit trees.

I don't really like how having weeds knocks down your island rating, but hey they still look neat.

I would like them more if you could actually inhibit their growth more efficiently in some way (I think in NH you need to have over a hundred for them to stop growing and spreading?), because sometimes I would like the small ones in certain places and other times the taller ones, and I'm not a fan of replanting every two weeks.

I'd also warm up to them more if their appearance in spring wasn't the ugliest thing on the planet

So I just plant a few in some spots and leave it at that

I just use custom design patterns so I don’t have to replant when they get to big. Most of the time they just get really annoying to me and don’t make my island look more natural more of a disaster area. It doesn’t help that my island is already overrun by flowers

the weeds are so pretty! my friend absolutely DESPISES weeds and has exactly zero on his island, but i have tons ive decorated with! definitely agree with the whole woodsy vibe they really help make things feel more natural. my sister uses weeds as well, shes made a checkered path with stone path + 4 leaf clovers! so pretty in the spring.

I strategically place them as decorations! I used quite a few in my camping/forest area, and the haunted house right next to it. Also, Dobie's yard has a fair amount.

I occasionally replace them if I'd prefer a different growth stage, but I actually rather like the fully grown ones. They fit in a lot of areas, but I do keep an eye on their spread. Just like I keep an eye on my flower spread, so it doesn't get out of hand again

Weeds used to bother me, but after seeing some of Theodore Cottontail’s screenshots, I decided to try decorating my town with some weeds; so far they look really good.

I have a whole foresty area of my island that has decorative weeds! They look so natural and nice and I love that they change with the season.

Also, I’m pretty sure weeds don’t effect your island’s rating because I have a 5 star island.

I love them. I let them grow anywhere that isn't a fully finished area (which on my island are far and few, haha). I cleared out the main land where RS is, and a section for a park, and that's it. Everywhere else, the weeds are allowed (and encouraged) to grow as they please.

My flower situation is out of hand, however. I really need to do some work on that, they've grown over all my paths and into everyone's yards.

I really don't know what to do with mine. I want to decorate with them, but I don't like how heir designs are different, and they spawn like crazy.
Someone said you needed 100 for them to stop spawning? I guess I should strategically place them somewhere then

Roses look ugly in NH compared to NL.

I grew weeds inside a cemetery plot and they look fantastic.

Purple roses were my favorite in New Leaf, they look weird in New Horizons. They look like black roses now. lmao

Yes! When I first played the game on launch day I thought that they were meant to be left there, as part of the wild island aesthetic. They add real character and I like how the flower on them changes throughout the seasons. I think for a natural themed island they shouldn't be removed.

The only reason I can think of that effects you negatively (other than its unappealing to you) is your town rating. Once I get 5 stars on my new island I’m going to place weeds everywhere outside my starting area (it’s going to be a deep wilderness).

That's just your opinion - Purple roses can look real fancy schmancy - especially around Gold colored stuff.

I do like the weeds though - they make great decor for wild-ish places and campsites. I do have to control their growth, however, as i like the 1st-2nd stages more.

I love weeds so much! I use them often. I also get annoying with their continued linear growth and wish that they would stay small. I also wish they didn't spread as much, so I try to place custom designs adjacent to them, but then there's not much covered ground I also love how weeds change depending on the season! Although I'm curious about how they look like in the winter!
