I mean like understand the thought bc waterfalls are so loud in real life but it’s kinda obnoxious in the game lol. And the sound of the waves too on the beach I can never tell if I am hearing a balloon float by or just the ocean
they're ridiculously loud in game, which is unfortunate because they're very pretty, and I'd definitely be more inclined to put more around my island if the noise wasn't as frustrating.
The sound itself is nice and actually calming(well, because it's the sound of water) when the waterfall is small. But I've seen a lot of "fancy-looking" waterfall walls in some random dream islands and it got to the point when I had to unplug my headphones because it's so L O U D. Real-life waterfalls are indeed very loud, but jeez...
I don't mind them considering ones in real life are arguably even louder. I also only have 2 on my entire island. Which are or less the ones I started with, though I did move one when I made the cliff it was on bigger.
Islands that use a lot of them when terraforming are definitely overwhelming in the sound department though.
I also tell myself that waterfalls are loud in real life, but man... it sure is a lot in a relaxing game like animal crossing. I try to keep my waterfalls thinner so it is less loud.
When I first started playing I hate waterfalls for this reason but they’ve grown on me. I wish we had a function to adjust different types of volume like ambient, dialogue, foot steps etc.
I had big plans originally to have waterfalls surrounding my house and the campsite and now I've gotten rid of every single waterfall except for one because they're so loud. I'm sad I can't have the aesthetic I wanted but I couldn't deal with the sound of them.
They’re pretty loud. I’m fine with fancy waterfalls here and there (I have a fancy grotto and isolated waterfall as well as the default waterfalls) but I’m not as big a fan of waterfalls being everywhere, because of the sound and the fact that it is a big contributor to framerate drops.

Before starting the game I thought I would put waterfalls everywhere, but the sound enerve me for some reason?? They sure look lovely, but I have barely the main 2 and it's more than enough for me.
but I couldn't deal with the sound of them.
