Anyone else feeling stumped with the terraforming?

i dont get how some people at 200 hrs have their layout completely done. i am around 300 hrs and am maybe 30% completed with my island design? i find terraforming exhausting.. i recommend doing what i did, which is just a little bit at a time with everything planned and mapped out how you want it.

i say take your time with it! there isnt a rush, as more updates come there will be more furniture sets unlocked for us and maybe then you can decide what kind of theme you want! if you want a theme, of course.

The biggest blocker for terraforming for me is just the controls. I'm always doing the opposite of what I want, and it makes me so frustrated that I just stop.

I wish they had controls similar to how we put furniture in the house. It's weird that they don't since it seems like it'd be not that hard to port over the functionality?

Edit: also the fact that future updates might bring more shops makes me not want to terraform. :/

I struggle with come up with ideas and the controls. I see so many awesome islands that have lots of terraforming done and it looks amazing! But I cannot even think of where to begin.

Same ! I try to use a map designer (https://eugeneration.github.io/HappyIslandDesigner/) and keep scrolling through tumblr to get inspiration. I actually have a file full of pictures from tumblr all sorted by "area" (around my house, the musem, able sisters). I try to build it clearly in my head instead of improvising
