i never got to experience the original pokemon games so i'm super excited! my first gen was gen 3 so it'll be lots of fun to see where the games all started and how far they've come.

PLUS WI-FI TRADING. THANK YOU SO MUCH NINTENDO.

which version are you guys gonna buy and why?

It's not WiFi trading IIRC. I thought it was local trading only. So it's no different from the originals, where you had to meet up in person with people to trade.

I'm not getting them. I actually played them back in the day when they first came out. IMO, these games have aged pretty badly. They were great for the time, but not now.

I still have the physical copies of Green, Red, Blue and Yellow, so obviously, I'm not gonna get any of them on Virtual Console XD

If it's literally just the game to the DS, then definitely not. I enjoyed Yellow & Gold as a kid, but never in a thousand years I'd go back to those mechanics.

The oldest version I'd consider buying for the DS is R/S/E. Seems a bit reduntant though, with OR/AS.

I think I'll skip them.

I have fond memories of them seeing as I played them 'back int day', but they're highly flawed games with lots of problems.

If I ever get nostalgic for it I'll go to an emulator and do it for free, simply because reminding myself how badly they aged and leaving disappointed isn't something I want to pay for.

I'm glad that they're being ported to a modern handheld so that all of the people who have been wanting to play them again can do so. That said, I have no interest in playing any of these games again. I started playing the games with Red, Blue, and Yellow, yes, but I can't stand to play anything older than 4th Gen now. There have simply been too many changes made, for the better, and it leaves everything older feeling far too archaic to enjoy.

If I really wanted to play them again, I'd play them on an emulator. They're overpriced even by Virtual Console standards, and I personally find the Gen 1 games (and their remakes) to be the most boring out of the entire series.

That's not even mentioning the amount of bugs that will still be present, and the fact there's only local trading.

I don't have any interest in getting them. An aged game that doesn't do anything that the current gen of Pok?mon can't do better. The only reason to get it would be to re-experience the plot, imo, and putting nostalgia aside, RBY wasn't exactly the pinnacle of storytelling. No compatibility with the new games either, so no keeping your mons. And this is pre-physical/special split O_o

Yeah, I'll pass.

I'll just leave this here.

O damn I totally forgot about the old PC mechanics... Still going to buy them tho yolo

I might buy yellow for nostalgic reasons. Although I have all 3 + a gameboy I'd just rather play it on a screen where I can see what I'm playing

I kind of would rather Gold, Silver and Crystal tbh. But I hope those that are getting these love them. :)

I'm only getting Yellow because in Japan the download code comes with special inserts. I probably won't actually play it though.
