Anybody playing the game completely offline?

I originally started playing offline because I didn't know online features weren't free like they were in NL (I'm still salty about that). Eventually I got an online subscription to download qr designs and to trade with other users.

I don't use online features much these days, but eventually I might open my island up for the dream suite if I'm ever happy with it.

I play offline 99% of the time due to having poor internet at home. I'll still download any updates that are available whenever I visit family with good wifi, but otherwise I don't really have any other choice. My husband plays this game as well, so we'll visit each others' towns through local connection from time to time, but that's all!

I only play offline because the only internet I have access to out in the countryside is this very limited cellular data and it is highly unreliable. It literally drops every couple minutes. I do have a code for Switch online but haven't activated it until I get decent internet. What a shame because I'd still like to get apples and peaches, the fruit I'm missing. Even so, it's still a very fun game. I get my missing colors from farming Redd and balloons.

At first when I got New Horizons I was like mmm nah I am not going to play online/ get online membership I wont need it haha. Then I started playing it and my IRL friend who lives a bit away from me (Due to Studying) and we both wanted to play together/trade each other items cause we would play New Leaf together. Then we both decided to try the weeks trial just so we could use those days to get everything we wanted from each other and as soon as the trial was done we both just ended up buying a years subscription haha

I have had it since April the same time I joined Belltree and I am happy with my decision I couldn't play without online as I usually like playing online games with others I have never really been someone who like playing games alone.

The only time I ever consider online is to connect with my kid, who loves walking around my island and my wife, who I visit to help clean the mess the kid made lol. I guess turnips counts for this too?

The only time I go online is when I buy/trade items on this forum or when my boyfriend comes over. I don’t really have friends or family who play the game. My cousin wants a Switch but she’s kind of cheap soooo lol

I'm offline 99% of the time. As others have said, the main thing will be lack of color variants and a couple of badges. You can definitely play and enjoy it without being online.

I have a friend who’s planning to get into the game but she doesn’t have plans of paying a Nintendo online monthly subs (she doesn’t play any other Nintendo games) since she’ll be buying a switch lite just for this. She asked my opinion if it’ll still be fun if she plays it completely offline and I have no idea because I have online subs so I thought of asking anyone here who’s playing the game completely offline...is it still fun? ‘Cause I mean I have online and sometimes still get bored so I can’t imagine how it feels to play it completely offline. That means no visitors, no dream suite, no trading, no custom paths or clothes...should I just tell her not to bother at all?

If you and your friend are close enough for local play, you could always send her the items and fruit that you get if you have online. That's what I do for my sister that doesn't have NSO :)

I originally played offline, that is until we found out that the only way to get other fruit and other variants of furniture was to trade online. She should still be able to enjoy it without those things. Though, if planned ahead of time, she could take advantage of the week free trial of Nintendo Online to catalog all the reorderable items, download any custom designs she wants and obtain all the other fruit she needs.

I think they'd quite enjoy it offline (: It has the essence of old animal crossing games which we still loved offline.

I played the game completely offline for like 2-3 months, because my internet was too poor for online play. The experience I had was generally good, I was able to make do with the furniture and clothes I had and would be super excited if I came across an item in my wishlist. Personally I think its fine, but online play imo is what makes AC very fun!

I played online for a couple weeks when I was first starting out and really enjoyed it! (I didn't time travel for about a month). As my island got bigger and I needed more supplies, I started to trade with people and eventually always used online for trading items. I don't visit people item s and tour though. Only trade.
