Anybody else starting to not like their island name

Mine is "coral key". I wanted to do a peachy/coral theme but none of the in game items are that color, so I switched to general pinks. My native fruit is peaches, which I guess are kind of coraly, but I guess the name really doesn't match anymore. I probably wouldn't change the name, but I know soooo many people who would!

I wasn't sure about Hollowhead at first, but now it's quite fitting with all the skeletons on my island. I have them everywhere, serving food, manning the lifeguard post, one at the lookout point, some even playing fooseball.

That wasn't always the plan, it was more going to be based around my fave villager Coco, but I wish we had gyroids.

Sometimes I see a really cool island name that is a clever reference or something, and I slightly feel like mine isn't good enough.

But I also would never change it. It's unique and I've never seen anyone use it yet, it fits my own personal interpretation of the game's theme, and it is a musical term which brings me back to my early college days.

Solfège can not and will not ever be replaced.

I'm sorry for your woes though. I do wish resident services had a function to change the name though, a lot of people would find use for that.

Mine was pretty generic - since it's an island we're on, and not part of the mainland like in the other games, I named mine Ke'hani (since Hawaii is an set of islands, even though I'm not in Hawaii). It's all right. I don't have a problem with it really.

I named mine Blue Sands because it sounded like a cool vacation location name but it definitely influenced my decorating, and now the theme is very blue orientated (I mean it doesn't bother me because that's my fav colour) 😂 So no I still like mine thankfully

I reset my island a few weeks ago because I was getting tired of the name Gullah.
But my new island name is called Moon River and no, I'm not getting tired of it.

Even though I'm not making my river moon shaped, I just like the name.

My town name is Honeylager - and I still love it. its named after beer, and I still like beer lol

But also like it could be a name for a more country style island or it could fit an urban too, so im glad I picked one that doesn't have a clear theme attached to the name.

I still love my islands name, I knew I wanted to name my island Acorn a couple months before the game was released. I'm happy I named it Acorn.

My island's called "Gundam" (as in, the mecha franchise) which was my sister's choice since she bought the game and is the island rep. I tried to subtly hint that maybe something more... I don't even know, general or cute even might be better, but she never caught the hint. Since she bought it, I let it be since I figure she earned the right to pick whatever and I'm just here for the ride lol. To be fair, I'm also a big Gundam fan so I don't hate the name, but if I had been the island rep, we would absolutely be living on an island like "Seafoam" or "Holly Isle" or something.

Niflheim...
I just like cold places and mythology.
I don't really have a theme other than rural village, but I do have subtle references to folklore in general like Stonehenge and the stone arch which to me looks like some sort of gateway.
I want to add more folklore references so I'm working on so custom designs like fairy circles and such.
(Not really Norse themed, but I'm okay with it.)
Waiting patiently till winter so my island looks like a cold place and not just named after one.

Don't really think I'm going to want to change my island's name anytime soon.

Not really, no. I've run into this problem A LOT in previous games, though... but not in my first AC. I still remember my first AC game. Rover asked me where I was going and I was like... IDK. So I tried to put in the name of my favorite place to visit (because I had family there and it was nice and quiet) but it didn't fit, so FOR YEARS I lived in the lovely town of Northdak. I'll... let you all figure it out 😛 And, since I had multiple memory cards, I also had Southdak. And Eastdak. And Westdak. That was... totally unrelated, but for some reason this made me think of it 😅

But, for this game, I settled on Woodland early on. It's versatile (wood is an important material and I just think of "woodland critters" or something) and cute and doesn't really lock me into a theme (though I knew I'd also want a nice forest on my island, which I have). In ACNL I had Lilydale for the longest time, and I considered reusing that, but I'm glad I didn't. I wanted a NEW name. And I like Woodland a lot.

That being said, someone made a thread the other day asking how to change their islands name. They had gone with Penisland and apparently were regretting it as they started connecting with other players.

My name is kinda a joke from the office it’s called tube city I don’t regret it because I made a spot from the scene so no regrets lol

I Suck at Nameing. So I Name my Island After a Pokemon Movie town Altomare. I Have not seen anyone name There island After a Town from a other nintendo game town and so on

I don’t regret my island name choices but I named my second island based off an inside joke between me & my bf. So when people come visit it’s a bit embarrassing hahaha

Caeli. it's still cool from the start because it has meanings that represent what my island theme is

I think I did good with my island name. My name is Lee, and my island's name is Leisure. So that would make me... Leisure Lee. Leisurely.

I also just think that Leisure is a good name for a island, so it works even without the pun.

I’m trying to build a cat island so it’s named Houtong after the fall village in Taiwan.
It’s okay, but I like other people’s island names more.

Arctin holds a lot of sentimental value and Evwirt is fresh in my mind and fits the setting of my SH island so I don’t regret either island name.
