Hello again!! ;7; A couple of days ago I posted a thread asking whether it was best to place paths before or after villager plotting. Those of you who replied suggested that I should lay down paths first, as well as gave some very helpful feedback! So if it?s alright;;, I?d really love your advice again!

I?ve placed white tiles everywhere (in the hopes of making landscaping a little easier, aha;; ) in my town and I?ve started to chop all my trees down.. but, how would you go about putting down paths..? I know that all buildings and paths should be connected to each other.. but, how do you make your pathing system look good?;; I, uh, really don?t know much about landscaping either, or how to make it look nice without it being too cluttered or too bare;;.. so any tips or advice on anything related to this (whether it be a guide you found helpful, your own experiences, or a really great Dream Address for an example ^^) will be really appreciated! Thank you so much! ;7;

You'll have to think of what PWP you'll want, general landscaping, and if you want buffer room for more landscaping between paths and PWP (like bushes or flowers).
It's really dependent on what you're going for theme-wise.

Like snowesque said, it depends on what theme you're going for. And it also depends on what you prefer and what type of layout you like the most. Me myself like it the best with two tile paths all around town, where they are all "straight" and go in straight lines, and they usually cross each other to make it easy to get around town. Worst explanation ever, I KNOW, but hopefully that makes sense haha. It makes it easier and faster tog et from building to building for me ^^

I also loooooove it when people put down bushes! I'm a bit addicted, they are everywhere in my town haha. I usually put bushes as a "outline" on most of my paths, just to make it look cluttered and cozy. I like it when the path is pretty much the only thing you can use to get places, but I know that a lot of people feel like it makes them trapped, so this really depends on person to person haha.

I'm one of those the-more-the-better type of person, so I like it the best when the town is filles with paths, bushes, trees, flowers and PWP's.

Honestly, I don't know a good way to explain it, but if you check out http://angiestown.tumblr.com/'s towns then you will get what I mean ^^. She got three towns, and my town looks pretty close to hers, landscaping wise.

Not sure if this helped haha. But yeah? :rolleyes:

I agree with the others that it all depends on the type of town you're going for when it comes to laying paths. But there are generally two types of paths:

1. Natural flowing paths for foresty or more natural towns. These paths can be made of dirt, stepping stones, clovers, or single tile qr codes. They meander and curve through town rather than cutting straight through and are usually 1 to 2 tiles wide.

2. Structured paths that form a grid similar to a city. This is like what Marte described. The paths are usually 2 to 3 tiles wide, go in straight lines horizontally and vertically and intersect with each other to form a grid. The open spaces formed by the grid are perfect locations for buildings, pwps, houses, and parks.

The one thing that I think remains the same regardless of which type of path you choose, is it usually looks better when you leave some space to landscape between your major buildings and the path.

Those are just my opinions based on the towns I've seen, but I hope it helps give you some ideas to get started.

Best tips are to lay out a good path system. Figure out where your want all of your villagers to live, and work around that with your paths. Also work around where you would like your PWP's, bushes and trees to go. When you do this you should have a pretty good idea of what things will fit where, and so on and so forth. Landscaping isn't easy and it took me months to perfect where i wanted everything, but in the end it's worth it to see the end result. Just know that landscaping will take time if you want it to look good, isn't just an overnight task! Hope this was helpful to you!

Ahhh thank you so much for all your help everyone!;; Each and every one of your in-depth feedback really helps a lot, thank you! ;7; My town is going to be cat-themed, but I’ve decided to have natural paths (I’m one of those people who feel ‘trapped’ with too many paths/‘clutter’ aha;; ) thanks to your insights. ^^ Thank you again!!

Natural paths are beautiful! If I had the patience I would get them too, haha. Good luck with your town, it's gonna turn out great :blush:
