I'm curious if there are any other Hatoful Boyfriend fans on here.
So, if you are, we could like talk about it I guess?

Alright, I'll explain a bit about it then!
Hatoful Boyfriend is an Otome (Girl's Dating Sim) from Japan where you date birds (most of which, are pigeons/doves.) At first, it looks like this silly game about dating birds that includes a cleaver-wielding partridge, pudding...
However, once you actually play certain parts of the game, you find out it's a lot more than it seems; it's actually a wonderfully written game with great characters and story line!
If you wanna read more about it, go to the Hatoful Boyfriend wiki, just beware of spoilers!

Alrighty! Thanks. :3

I actually do remember hearing about it before. I'm not sure if you've heard about TinierMe? There was once a thread on there about it.

Edit: TinierMe was like Gaia Online. It was a Japanese avatar dress-up website. :P

Ah, I remember going on TinierMe a few times.
But, yeah; if you wanna see what Hatoful's all about, there's a demo of the game (and an english patch for it), the full version that's only about $5, other people's playthroughs, and the manga you can look into! (My only suggestion about playing the game is that it might not be the best idea to start with Ryouta or Nageki first.)

TINIERME. <3

Okay, I will look into this then. I feel like I may have tried it when it was mentioned on TinierMe, but we'll see. x] Hopefully someone else is more familiar with Hatoful Boyfriend. ^^

Wait, there is a video game where you date a cleaver wielding pigeon? Am I seeing this right?

I like this game, even though some of the humor is a little forced. My first playthrough was um...well, my "boyfriend" was Shuu. So, without spoiling it, I'll just say that it was an eventful courtship. XD I think I'll pursue Okosan next.

Ah yes, Shuu. If you have the full version, did you get the extended ending yet? (And, oh man; I hope you've got the full version of the game, because Okosan's extended ending is glorious.)
I suggest playing Ryouta or Nageki's route sometime. I remember initially thinking they were boring, but, after playing their routes, I fell in love with them (and bbl/hurtful boyfriend did even more to make me like them.)

My first Shuu playthrough was in the demo version. Now that I have the full, I'll replay Shuu's storyline with an eye toward the extended ending. I did do Nageki's route this evening, and found it to be pretty touching. Can't wait to find out more about the world, and how it came to be what it is. Some backstory was revealed, but there's still a lot to uncover. :D

Have you played Holiday Star yet, and if so, what are your thoughts on it? I went ahead and bought it, but am waiting to play it until after I have thoroughly exhausted Hatoful's storylines.

I finished Holiday Star in about a day; it was amazing. The first two chapters are really fun and funny, the side-stories are nice too, and the last chapter/two chapters; ohman. No only is it amazingly written, but, it expands upon the bbl/Hurtful Boyfriend storyline as well. The only thing to keep in mind is that it's more of a storybook format than a dating sim this time around.
(Also, here's how you get extended endings; for Shuu take all the math classes and select options that will add to your intelligence stat, for Oko you take all of the gym classes and select options that will raise your vitality stat, and for Sakuya you do the same thing with music class/charisma stat.)

I just went for the doctor xD

It's not like anything goes wrong in the end
you die at the end and you eat your best friend
...oh

Well, he's not your best friend (that's Ryouta), but yeah; that's pretty much it.
and then he asks your decapitated head if you loved him in his extended ending.

I am really into peacocks. Will this game satisfy my urges?

Well, there is an equally flashy golden pheasant in the sequel, though sadly, you can't date him.

So like how intense is the bird-dating in this game?

It really depends on which route you're playing. For example; you've got Oko, who has a really fun route and a really bizarre ending that just makes you want to throw your arms up in the air and scream "what is this I quit", but then you have other characters who have more serious or sad routes. There's also the Bad Boy's Love (BBL)/Hurtful Boyfriend route that's very intense. And sad. And makes everything hurt.
Similar goes for the game's sequel; most of the chapters before the last two (and even the third chapter's ok until the end of it) and the side-stories are happy and silly and fun, but then you've got the end of the third chapter and all of chapter four which, like BBL/Hurtful is intense, and sad, and painful, and makes everything hurt.

EDIT: OH WAIT, YOU MEAN THE RELATIONSHIPS THEMSELVES, DON'T YOU? In that case, the game is pretty innocent (except Shuu and Yuuya.)

Oh man, I love this game; my ending gallery is 100% complete. x) I lost -a lot- of sleep playing it with my younger sister, who demanded that I translate everything to our native language since she can't understand English, haha.

If I had to describe HL in one sentence, it'd be 'more than meets the eye' without a shadow of a doubt. :V Certain parts honestly made me cry - not only inside, I mean 'cry' in the literal, 'tears rolling down my face' sense (and it was not caused by sappy romance). Nageki.... BBL.... (sniff) Without spoiling too much, if you're a fan of weird plot twists and dystopian settings, this lovely dating sim should tickle your fancy. 10/10, would recommend.
