Annoying game fandoms

Most games I tend to play are online, so I'd have to say Toontown and Wizard101. I feel like both fandoms are full of rude and disrespectful people who think they're better than everyone else. Not everyone is like that, but I have encountered many people who tend to act that way.

Yeah, most all MMORPGS nowadays have toxic playerbases, which is why I don’t play any of them anymore. People act so childish on all of them, whether the game is intended for kids or adults, that there’s no point in bothering to play them when there’s better single-player, multiplayer, and online games that Nintendo produces.

gosh, every game can get pretty gross but undertale, sonic, and bendy get rly weird. i love undertale, still have a lot of merch when i was obsessed but i never really joined the fandom. just played the game and drew a lot of pictures and made my own aus and didn't share them with anyone but two friends. fnaf and toontown are the WORST though. toontown players are SO mean when you don't get the strategy right or whatever?? i'm sorry i'm not perfect. and fnaf ugh i loved it when i was 12 and people got so SERIOUS about their headcanons and crap.

Have to agree about Undertale. I mean I've played some of the game and it's good but yeah.. have some people even played it or do they just look at scream-y people let's play and/or memes?

And yeah re MMO games I p much only play AQW and the people are alright I guess.. Although the staff can be pretty meh.

Oh I know one game that is pretty dumb and full of rude people and its call something with Mice. I don't remember really what it was called but I just know it had a Mice name in the title of the game and what you do in the game is collect cheese and get in the mouse hole in time before everyone else does and you play online with people and they're a lot of wall jumping in that game.

i hate most fandoms but the danganronpa fandom is ungodly in every single way. seriously, i love it so much but people who are into it scare me a lot because the fandom is so terrible and toxic to the point i don't really like talking about it.

imo the fortnite/roblox/undertale/minecraft fandoms aren't really toxic per say, at least not anymore in the case of undertale. a lot of the people in them are just little kids who are trying to have fun and are harmless, but then again we're talking about annoying fandoms.

Yes that game and online people just keep swearing all the time on that game.

I don't know that I have any particulars. There is a significant portion of The Sims fanbase that annoys me because they can't see when EA has done them wrong and defend them fervently. They then say stuff like "Give it a chance" as if we haven't already seen enough information to make a judgment. And then they also throw around snide remarks like "If you don't like it, buy it", which is a very snide way of saying "Shut up". It's a very snobby portion of the fanbase defending mediocre game releases. I can't lie, the Nintendo fandom as a whole is very guilty of this, too.

Perhaps my least favorite overall is the PC gaming fandom. Like the gaming fandom as a whole is toxic. Console wars are stupid. They all lob the very same insults at each other "Your company's franchises are stale" - Literally the same complaint made by every company's fan toward the others. Really, people just need to grow up and realize that people's platform preferences is their opinion. It is nothing more than an opinion, and it is one that is really easy to let and let live. Yet gamers just can't get over it when someone enjoys a platform that isn't their's.

Anyway, big tangent! PC gamers. The PC gaming fandom is just the most snobby and toxic of all. I can't even start with it. Really, the best way I can put it is... Like if I were exclusively a Classical music aficionado who valued music only for the form, chords, creativity, etc. that was put into Classical music. Now imagine someone makes a topic "What is your favorite genre of music?" and everyone else was like "Oh, metal is pretty rad" or "I just love classic rock", but then I come into the topic and deride everyone else and say something like "Classical music is objectively better". That is exactly what too many PC gamers do, just with gaming platform preferences instead of music preferences. It's like they can't even read the mood of a topic (one about personal preferences) and think that everything always has to be about how their platform is objectively better and people with other preferences are beneath them.

The one thing about fandoms is that most people only see the outer shell - the vocal minority, the worst of the worst. I'll admit to being somewhat part of the Sonic fandom (mostly around hacks and fangames), but there's a stark difference between the things you see on DeviantArt and what the public sees than the actual "core" itself, so to speak. Most of the "outer shell" of the Sonic fandom is seen as a joke even *by* Sonic fans.

Though yeah, I'd argue the "outer shell" fandoms for things like Undertale, FNaF, Sonic, PC Gaming, etc are pretty bad, there are genuinely good cores of each fandom if you're willing to dig a little. Not everyone is terrible, it's just the terrible people get the most screentime, so to speak.

I mean hey, I've even seen bad people from the Animal Crossing fandom, yet we all know how kind this place is.

Honestly, most gaming fandoms have their toxic parts to them. Just some are worse than others.

And that's one of the ones that's really bad.

A minor rant about PC gaming fandom... I really hate how so many PC gamers seem to like the edgy case designs and all of the stupid LED lights on EVERYTHING (cases, keyboards, mice, headsets... everything). I recently had to buy a new laptop and I needed pretty good hardware. For laptops, that means you're stuck with the PC gamer laptops. I managed to find one that I could tolerate, but I still had to turn off the stupid keyboard backlighting. I don't need fancy lights wasting battery life unnecessarily just to "look cool." Who am I showing off to anyway, myself? The computer sits on my desk most of the time.

Most games I play are MMORPGs, so I'm usually in a toxic gaming community. The only MMOs that I've played that don't have a toxic fanbase are Alicia Online and Star Stable, both being horse games. The worst community I've found is Town of Salem. God, it's terrible. If you make one mistake in ToS, your entire team is screaming at you and telling you to kill yourself. It's horrendous, especially for someone who gets anxious just from online interactions. The AC community is by far the nicest I've seen thus far.

i love undertale with all my heart and soul but the fandom drives me up the wall.

i don't care about kids who make undertale OCs and AUs and stuff. i have no issue with kids having fun (although i admit the amount of AUs like underfell and underswap or whatever really confuse me when i'm trying to find some regular content). but there are also so many digusting people, especially in regards to shipping. there's an overwhelming amount of incest (sans/papyrus, chara/asriel) and pedophilic ships (sans/frisk, papyrus/frisk), plus there is WAY MORE sans/reader and NSFW sans content than anyone would ever think necessary. i feel like those types of people in particular don't understand sans's character at all. i mean if you think he's hot i won't stop you (even if i can't possibly see how) but it gets really grinding when all that stuff is more prevalent than actual discussion about the game itself and its story yknow?

i'm sure that stuff happens in lots of other fandoms, too, but freaky undertale fans are what i personally come across most since i love undertale so much.

also FPS gamers tend to be extremely obnoxious and gross from what i can tell (overwatch seems to be different since it's a sort of different kind of FPS but there are still plenty of annoying overwatch fans, just annoying in different ways)

oh i can definitely see that...i've never played town of salem but i play epicmafia sometimes and from what i hear it's pretty similar. and the people who play that game are just as bad. pretty sure 95% of times i've been called the R word come from that website (it feels especially bad for me bc i'm autistic, but this isn't the place to go on about all that). they're such obnoxious elitists, and only a few of them can have any sort of basic human decency. i want to play TBT mafia instead bc i trust this community to be a lot better, but i feel like it'll be overwhelming for me >.<
