Anime subs vs dubs?

Subs. Not only do they change references, but I generally don't agree with the voice actors the dubbing companies choose, especially voices of younger kids.

I really noticed how terrible Eng dubbed was from Yugioh and Angel Beats! Though it was more 4kids, Yugioh GX and 5Ds don't have their final season, leaving them uncompleted. English version of Angel Beats is alright but it isn't as emotional or funny, the character TK is hilarious in Japanese because he says random lyrics from English songs but in the english it's just broken

I don't mind dubs if A) they're accurate with the translations and sensible with the voice actors chosen or B) the comedy is still funny regardless of what's been changed. I like subs but I prefer decent dubs if they're available. It resonates much more with me if I'm hearing the dialogue in my own tongue rather than reading it. I can't deny the really talented Japanese voice actors, though, like that Tomokazu Sugita fellow. He's awesome.

I wind up loving some dubs, but most of the time I go for subbed. My bf prefers dub because that's all he's ever watched, so we watched the persona 4 dub and I have to say.. I quite liked it. Main character was voiced by a VA that has my respect, he played it well. Then there is tiger and bunny which we also watched dubbed, again not so bad. This being said, I didn't watched a single moment of the subbed versions. I do notice ill cringe more at them if I've already started watching it in subs, but hey I enjoyed the two above so ill leave it at that. I like both, and while it has been rare for me to find good dubs, they are happening more often these days it seems. Maybe dubs have quite the future yet.

Watch, next week ill go ranting about dubs instead. I plan on watching sword art online eventually, too bad nl will be nom noming my time for awhile.

I usually prefer subbed versions... I have watched dubbed, but honest? The voices either are annoying or they just don't suit the character at all. Plus, you do miss out on SOME funny parts/jokes as well if it's been dubbed, like you know... TK in Angel Beats and Okabe in Steins;Gate (mad scientist is so cooru, etc x3)... I mean, it just screws it up I guess.

I generally prefer subs, but I'm not passionate about the subs vs dubs debate but I know some anime fans will only watch subs and absolutely hate dubs, but I don't mind too much.
To be honest subs is mainly better 'cause dubs rely on the choice of voice actors for dubs, and sometimes there not as good as the origional voice actors and therefor the anime doesn't maintain its origional quality and could discourage people from following the series.
(also I think Japanese is a beautiful sounding language!)

It kind of depends on the dub (although I guess that much is obvious), I recall enjoying Gundam 00's dub, though I wager I'd probably dislike it if I saw the original first.

Subs are alright, but the main issue with that is I'll end up missing something if my eyes are glued to the text all the time.

This would be much easier if I could just understand Japanese.

I don't usually mind, although if I'm feeling lazy I will just watch in dub. Of course, some dubs are simply atrocious and I can't stand listening to them even try. However, some are actually fairly impressive! FMA, for example, have some great VAs for the dub.

I'm in the minority: I prefer dubs, easily. Yes, they're worse and usually cheesier than subs but I just don't like reading the subtitles. Call me lazy, it's okay!

I can't deny it's sometimes entertaining when the dub is so cheesy it's funny, but sometimes it's just unbearable.

1. The Subs move to fast

2. There is allot of action in the anime, and you want to pay more attention to what's going on.

I always find that the subs in anime don't move all that fast, and when they do, you can often guess what they're saying if you manage to get a glimpse at it. x3

The best is raw japanese of course, subs are annoying.

Whichever is the first thing I find. Dubs on netflix? Dubs it is. Subs on netflix? Sure, that's fine. New series that's just coming out? Not gonna wait for dubs.
