Animal Crossing + Anxiety

= bad time. Now don't get me wrong, I love animal crossing and have over 1000 hours logged into new leaf, but that's also sort of my problem. My main acnl cartridge has problems reading in my 3ds for some reason, and the amount of times it's caused my game not to read every once in a while or randomly crash saying an error occurred or the game card has been removed has caused me very high levels of anxiety every time I load up the game to check for movers or play it, etc. Does anyone else have this kind of issue? I'm just looking for some advice or something since I love this game so much but it's become a source of anxiety basically because I'm scared to death that one day it's just not gonna work anymore or I'm going to lose my data that I put so much time into.

It happened twice today that my game crashed lol, that's why I made this thread because it's giving me a lot of anxiety

I haven't had to deal with this, but it does seem like there is something wrong with your cartridge. If you do not want to risk losing your town, I would recommend buying a digital copy and transferring your files onto there. It may be expensive, but it's a choice between that and potentially losing your town.

It also might be that your 3DS game slot is damaged in some way. If you tried some other cartridges, preferably some newer ones, you may be able to test it. Trying your AC cartridge on a different system would also provide the same effect.

My 3ds does this with other games, not just acnl.... Which is odd since this 3ds is under a year old and had NO issues until I system transferred from my old 3ds which did have this problem. It seems like for some reason turning off the wifi fixes it, which makes me think something is wrong with my 3ds, not the game cartridges themselves.

If your DS does this to all the games, you might consider taking it to a repair-shop (I dont know the english word for that lol) and let them take a look at it? Maybe they can fix it for you!

If it's an option (not sure if talking on the phone also sets off your anxiety, my apologies) at all, I can vouch for Nintendo's support/customer service line. I did a data transfer from my original 3DS to a 2DSXL this year and the employee was super helpful and patient. I wasn't even on hold for that long despite the automated message spouting out a warning that the lines are soOoO busy. I hope the issue gets resolved; that is super stressful. ),:

i’m sorry this is happening to you and causing you anxiety! i know that’s never fun. i agree with the above comment- try taking your 3ds to a repair shop or maybe you could talk to Nintendo? i don’t know if that’s an option but it’s certainly worth looking into, especially if you think it’s your 3ds and not your game cartridges!

i should inform you that Nintendo no longer offers repairs for the ORIGINAL 3ds system- but the newer ones (Nintendo 3ds XL and Nintendo 2ds) they still allow for repairs! so it depends on your console’s model!

Hm, since you've done a system transfer, does it with other games, and WiFi maybe fixes it.

Well I'm stumped.

I was gonna say that since it was a cartridge problem, you could back up the data to your system, then transfer it to another game card, but it may not be a game card issue. It really does sound like there's somethin wrong in the system that it 'disconnects' with the game and isn't able to read data at times.

Can you maybe test this on your old system? Does the game still crash or is it fine?

I would phone Nintendo. They helped me when I had problems with my old 3DSXL.
I had the same problems but it was the SD card that couldn't read the game. I was able to play the game and save it. When I left the game it said unable to read the SD card. Nintendo said to replace the SD card and it works.

Did you do a old 3DS to another regular 3DS transfer? At the end of this Nintendo help it said to removed the source SD card and use it in the target system. That could be why you are having problems with the 3DS if your using the old SD card.
