Amiibo cards are re-stocked in North America!

What the heck, why are they so expensive! One pack from bestbuy.ca or thesource.ca is $6.99 (Canadian dollars) but I saw similar crazy prices on amazon.ca. I'd call or if you have twitter you can go to @AskTarget to find out if they're multiple pack or something cuz that's just nuts!
No idea it makes no sense for them to be that much. The series 3 are only 5.99 so it makes no sense the others are so much. I was only trying to get 2 packs but they won’t deliver anything under $35. Not sure I want to send that much on cards that could either be ones I won’t use or have doubles if I order more 2 packs of the same series. Unfortunately the store by me will not be getting them. I really wish I could just buy all the penguin amiibo cards from Nintendo. I know that won’t happen.I will have to ask target on Twitter thanks for the suggestion.

WOAH! This is super exciting 🤩 I know when I was there this past Friday I was able to get the Sanrio cards (they had a BUNCH, but they were locked and had to buy them at the electronics counter, lol) but I didn't see any regular ones (then again, I didn't really look, I was so shocked just to see the Sanrios)

My mom's stopping at Target tomorrow so... I guess I'll be tagging along 😉 (I was already considering going, but this is the final push, lol)

Well I went to the Target nearest of my home and all they had was the Sanrio cards. Went to another store that was 10 miles away and they actually had a good stock of all four sets! Bought 2 packs of each series and got some great villagers out of them (sadly still no Bones).

Will have to go through them and see which I have doubles of, might start trading after getting a few more packs. 👀

Yah, IDK if they'll have any (come to think of it, there were some empty display slots next to the Sanrio, but they usually keep other things there so who knows) but it never hurts to look!

As of right now, I only have the Sanrio cards, and some of the RV cards (which were previously the only ones our Target had, back when the Welcome Amiibo patch was released) so any ones I'd get would be new for me~

Do you mind if I ask how much each pack was. I was going to order them online but the prize was expensive.

They were $5.99 each. Not sure why they were priced differently online, I’d check whether there’s any in store around your area before buying any on the actual website.

The online store does seem to have a glitch of some sort. I can also confirm they are the normal 5.99/pack. If you want to order for pickup, maybe you can call the store and do so that way?

Thanks , unfortunately I would have to have them shipped since the store by me will not be getting them. I hope it is just a glitch that gets fixed. Will keep an eye on the price and see if it fixes.

The Target I work at came up as "not sold at this store." But I'm in Salem on vacation and went to the Target here, and they had a very good supply of all four series so I got some. I'm hoping that some of the other stores in my area back home will have some too.

Went to my other Target today and they just had Sanrio. I'll probably check back next weekend.

I went to Target on Sunday and they had no cards on the shelf. I asked in electronics and they went searching in the back. September 5 was the set date for the cards. They received a case of each. So 18 packs of Series 1 2 and 3. I grabbed two of each pack but would love to find more.

Wow this is for real. I wonder if it's a mistake.

It is definitely, 100% a mistake, and only on the website. If you go to the store the cards are all 5.99/ pack as they should be. I would hope you get would fix the website soon, but idk when that will happen. Target’s website management is a mixed bag. Nor sure if anyone has called in to a help line, but I would assume many have?

To everyone who's still hoping to get the cards, I hope you guys will find them, may the odd be ever in your favour!! Try calling the stores near you if you're not having luck w/ the glitchy price on the website or go in person.

A reminder this rollout just started & not heavily promoted like the Sanrio ones, so we do have some advantage this time around. I see on twitter many comments on ppl no longer caring abt the game, so the odds of getting the cards are def better!! For Canadians, they're still up at thesource.ca as I'm writing this!

And I notice Canadian scalpers' prices on the Sanrio cards have dropped to average $20, down from $40-80 so I assume many scalpers who didn't make as much profit as they wanted with those would reconsider buying these in bulk.

*And to all who managed to nab some, congrats!!! Mine is arriving this week (shipped to the store) and I can't wait!

I'm not sure if this is the case, but I think sometimes Target (and Wal-Mart and Amazon) uses other distributors to fulfill orders for items they aren't currently stocking. Sometimes these distributors are video game speciality stores and they markup the prices up just like a reseller would. That might be what this is, but I don't know for sure.

Edit: It appears to be just a glitch and not another distributor, see WaileaNoRei's post below

That's kind of what I was wondering when I saw that. But I also know almost nothing about technology, so I could be totally off-base 😅

Anyway, I personally went to Target yesterday and found a nice, full display of each series! I got one of each and got some really neat cards like Julian, Marina, Kid Cat, Wolfgang... I also got some I'll probably never use, lol, but mostly ones I was pumped about! They were all 5.99 in store and I'm super happy to finally have more~ I may even try cycling at some point (when I'm ready to move Raymond out, lol) since I now have a solid stack (is it just me, or is there something satisfying about holding a nice, solid stack of cards?)

I'm happy for you @Serabee !!!

I only have the third party mini versions of the standard amiibo cards (only my Sanrio is official) but it's fun nevertheless to go through them & was quickly addicted lol.

target doesn’t do that as far as I know (though they have a bar of advertising at the bottom of the screen that may list outside sellers, they don’t list them with their own stock like Walmart does. and I can confirm it is their own, target sold cards where the prices are glitching on both the web site and the app. Walmart does list resellers when they are out of stock (but I think sometimes directly sells them?), and Amazon in the us only has cards sold through third party distributors and resellers from what I can tell.

the stores near me all were very well stocked on the cards and still have them in stock, so I hope everyone who wants some can grab a pack or a few packs.

I still do not like using amiibos because I find island hopping way more fun and satisfying, but I really enjoy collecting them, and I like the experience of opening the packs to see who I get.
