Am I the only one who...?

On the same note- how can there even BE popular villagers when they all have basically the same personality? :|
LOL its the appearance, and how the villager makes you feel. It's like Lucha and Rodney, same personality but they don't seem like the same person ha? :p

"completed" towns are ridiculous.

Like- I don't want to stop working on things, and if I have a vision for how I want things to be- it's not like I'm just going to stop after that or reset or something. Plus, I like the little bit of extra challenge each day when things aren't perfect, and I'm happy with whatever villagers I get- because I want to experience a bunch of them, not just a few super-popular ones.
I'm the same, I feel yeah.

I'm going to agree with those who have said they dislike the word "dreamy". When I first joined this forum the word made me roll my eyes a lot, it just sounded like baby talk. I don't completely hate it and I don't judge people for liking it but I think it's just too weird. I use it, though, mainly because it gets the point across if the person I'm replying to uses the word too.

I like unplanned, random towns too. I don't have the patience to plot reset 500 times per villager just to get the houses all in a row and I like the challenge of a town that looks a bit more random. Towns that are too neat just end up looking too artificial for my liking.

I also tend to dislike overly cutesy path designs and towns, like towns where everything is pink bricks and candy and pink roses. It's just a bit overwhelming when people overdecorate and there isn't an inch of grass in sight.

I hate all the pinky cutesy towns. I feel like they're all the same with their pink tumblr pathways.
I like kangaroos and don't care for too many cats.

*i like harry.
*when i go beetle hunting, i organise my basket so everything goes from a lower to higher sale price and much prefer to have it where none of the beetles match directly horizontally or vertically (diagonally is okay) :B
*i don't have the patience to plot reset but i'm jealous of the people who do. i know a lot of people in this thread like organic towns, but i'm an anxious person so i'm always like 'OH NO THIS LOOKS BAD, WHY DIDN'T I LOOK FOR DIFFERENT MAPS, WHY DID I PUT THIS HERE, WHY IS MY CAMPSITE THERE UGH I'M SO DUMB' etc etc
*i feel bad about this one, but i don't understand people who have been playing for ages and don't have their mortgage paid off (unless they don't really care about upgrading their house).

I like random villager house placement and maps. It makes the game more interesting because you have to then, work with what you've got which is more interesting in my opinion.

I also actually like listening to Shrunk's bad jokes. I'm a sucker for bad jokes. xD

I don't like when people replace ALL of their grass with ugly fake grass patterns. Paths are perfectly fine but I'd like to see the game's grass D: Even if it is covered by trees or flowers.

I find most of the cats' designs unappealing. I like Kid Cat, Rosie, Lolly, and Tangy. Punchy and Tom are OK, but past that they're kinda... odd. Monique doesn't even look like a cat she looks like a cat shaped human. I wish they kept Meow in the game.

I'm looking forward to the days Isabelle is outside.
Summer Solstice is coming and I have my net ready to hit her.
Girl needs to stop pushing villagers around when we go to pick a PWP.
I'd loved to shove her into the boat so she can go visit her boyfriend.

Ed and Phyllis need to date. A few time I almost sent him a letter.

I like a lot of tier four/five villagers, like Katt, Miranda, Merry, etc. I love the villagers I have, I don't care what tier they're in. (I do like a lot of tier ones though)

oh my gooood thank you.

Dude, half of the towns I bump into that are 2kawaii5me and just about every single one of the mayors is some pink haired lolita in a cutesy dress- with the Mermaid exterior and fence, ofc.

Not that people can't do what they want. But- people need to do what they want instead of trying too hard to be tumblr-famous or something.

A lot of people do actually like that high pink aesthetic though - it's not just for Tumblr. I used to be a very into the sweet pink/pastel lolita scene and I did my games up like that because I can't do it to my room in real life. It's a pretty big subculture nowadays. I grew out of it but I still highly enjoy the kawaii stuff, I have the mermaid exterior with the hedge and regal letterbox. I haven't finished the inside yet but I plan to make the first room that soft pink x white rococo kinda aesthetic with the other rooms being furnished in Mori and visual kei style. I don't even have a tumblr or take pictures of my game when I play, it's just what I like.

I also like random villager placement, mostly because I can't be bothered resetting.

I'm astounded at the amount of awful gameplay design features in this game. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing; I'm sure a lot of the game's charm comes from all these little features. But small things like going through a ridiculous dialogue tree just to use wireless connections (and having to start over from the beginning if you accidentally chose the wrong option - ie. local instead of Internet), only being able to hold about 1.6m on your person at any time, no separate inventory for tools, not being able to manually place houses/projects and being forced to talk to Isabelle/Nook every time just to see if you got the positioning correctly... I could go on and on.

I think it's a testament to the entertainment that this game provides, when people can put up with design that wouldn't be tolerated in most other video games.

amen amen god bless god bless thank u v much

I enjoy the jock personality, its' one of my favorites. It makes me sad that its almost always the first personally to be left out of a dreamy list, and that it just gets so much hate in general. I hate exercise and working out irl, but seeing my scrawny cats and frogs boast to me with their high-pitched voices about their "fabs" is just adorable! <3

yeAH I????????? WHY DO PEOPLE HATE JOCKS SO MUCH IM REALLY CONFUSED TBH
I LOVE JOCKS THEYRE ADORABLE
i swooned the first time pierce called me "ladybro" i thought it was so cute i was like ugh get your cute face OUT OF HERE
like wtf , jocks are. really cute,,
i get not being able to relate to them, but thats the charm for me. i cant relate to them at all. they ask me how fast i can run a dash or whatever, i say im slow af, they laugh at me and i laugh with them. i think its cute

I can bow to that, I suppose.

I think there's a certain way to approach it- kind of like you do, actually, that doesn't bother me so much (you have different elements that aren't just "MAKE THINGS PINK". I just don't like walking into someone's HHA model and having every room be "PASTELS : THE EXPERIENCE"

Not that my design choices are any better, but- ack. Variations, svp.

I wish villagers would ping you for interior design where you could go in their house an change their wall/floor and move their furniture around.

Ooh, unpopular views? Fun :3

I think it's silly that people want to hold onto the same villagers forever. I understand that you like them and want to keep them around... but don't you want to eventually see new faces? You're just setting yourself up for disappointment when one of them moves out unexpectedly. You have to be able to allow new faces into your town and learn to love different villagers, not just the same ten for the rest of forever and ever. >.<

And on the topic of villagers:
I don't think Marshal is cute and I don't understand why so many people do. His perpetual scowl annoys me. :p

I like random maps as well.. I don't get why people are resetting because of them..?
Also I don't like crankies. I feel like everyone loves them and I just don't get them.

A lot of people seem to hate Paula but I love her.
I adore her.
Anyways...
I love most of the kangaroos, the two I dislike are Sylvia and Mathilda.
Map layout doesn't really bother me that much.
I'm not huge on tier one villagers, I like most of the tier five ones over them.
I don't support the slave trade.
Bulls are one of my favorite species.
I've never been big on the deer, Beau and Fauna especially.
I'm not picky about my villagers at all.
I don't really like the word "dreamie" at all, I dunno why it's even in my signature.
I cycle a bit in my main town to keep the game from becoming boring.
I feel bad adopting a villager off someone else if I haven't had them before.
I love all of the chickens besides Egbert and Broffina.
I like more of the older villagers like Ava and Bertha over most of the newer ones.
I didn't like Marshal that much when I had him, same thing with Ankha and most tier one villagers except Diana. I just had them around for the sake of having them around.
I despise the ducks and all of the mice besides Rizzo and Dora.
I find all of the lions really gross besides Bud.
I'm not picky on house placement, if they don't move in on my path, I won't mind.
Smugs are probably my favorite personality.
I love all of the female koalas besides Canberra.

I too love random maps, I have actually come to love the map I randomly chose haha. I also love that you can cycle through to try and get a villager back, better then losing them forever.

It's taking me forever to get all of the house upgrades... because I mostly don't care. I don't spend a lot of time in my house in AC, so I care more about making my town the way I want it to be or sending items to my villagers.

I agree on the completed towns, but I guess some people might just have more fun creating a town to be "just right", then starting the whole thing over again. I personally enjoy watching how my town will progress over time.

People have "dream villagers" based on design and their houses, mostly. I don't think there's anything wrong with that and it's exactly because the personalities are so repetitive... when you have to pick villagers, or decide which ones to keep, unless you're the type to let all villagers go you need to make some sort of decision. As it is, the game mainly lets us make that decision through looks.

I don't think that anyone who said something about that kind of looks (I think I mentioned it in my first post here too) is saying everyone who does is trying to be tumblr-popular or that nobody likes it. It's just a matter of preference. I personally dislike that kind of design and I think it gets tiring when so many towns look the same and are all submerged in cute pink stuff. I'm not putting down your tastes, you're entitled to them, but people like me can dislike those things too.
