Sometimes I give my male villagers “feminine clothes” (cute/pink shirts, dresses) to wear, since they’re just clothes. I see nothing wrong with it. They always seem comfortable with it, and always willingly change into them. I wouldn’t really give it to them if they expressed discomfort. I know they’re video game characters, but I still have some sort of respect for them... that must be weird, huh?

I don’t have a cross-dressing fetish, I just believe that you can wear dresses and “feminine clothes” and still be male. I simply put them in whatever I think looks good with their colors. That said, some male villagers have colors and designs that don’t work as well for the “cute” look (like Buck.) But Vladimir looks pretty good in pastel stuff since he’s small and pink. He’s so cute for a Cranky, lol.

I just put them into things that look nice.
No matter the gender of the villager, if you give them some of the body suit type items it turns into a dress anyways.
Julian I gave a blue and purple jumpsuit to which looks like a dress when he wears it. I think it looks really nice on him.

I usually give my villagers something similar to what they were originally wearing, or something I think looks nice on them. I don't really like clothes sitting around in their homes so I try to gift something they'd enjoy wearing. It's cool that you're gifting your villagers things they normally wouldn't wear though

Note: They don't need both the color and style to match, but I feel like it would guarantee they would wear it if you have both.

Octavian loves the color red and the style "Official." I don't believe there are any dresses that fit both of those categories, however, if you bought him a red dress, or a dress considered "official" (google "official clothing acnh" and it should pop up if you need help!) he will most likely appreciate the gift!

Octavian likes Black and White colors, and his styles are Cool and Simple. Where did you get the red and official from? Styles work differently in New Horizons, so any information from wikis are likely outdated.

Apologies, I researched it from a wiki page, yes. I had tested it out with a few other villagers and it seemed accurate, so I assumed they hadn't changed their styles for any of the villagers. I apologize if it was incorrect information, and thank you for the correction.

You're fine, the game is still new so a lot of people don't know about resources and styles and other things, it is all good. I've been wrong about a few things before on here as well too haha.

Same. I gave Sherb a farmer outfit and he wore it like a dress, so I started giving hin more androgynous-feminine clothing. I'll give my villagers whatever suits them.
