I've been resetting for a 'perfect' town layout for three days now. Am I being too stubborn? I've come across a few potential good layouts, but they didn't really appeal to me much... e(>_<)

I don't think so, I did that too with my cycling town, knowing it's just going to be a cycling for the moment & an actual town I'd plan to complete soon. I didn't reset for more than a day though. I got tired quick.

I suggest if you found a map that's closest to what you're envisioning, look no further. You might regret passing up on that one. I was like, as long as there was a secluded land near the river for my planned castle with no villagers living on it & Re-Tail is not located too far from the beach, I'll pick that & be done with it. If you don't choose what you really like, you'd end up not feeling your town anyways, and would want to reset in the future.

I know I said 3 days, but its more like over the last 3 days. Only really done it for maybe 3 hours a day. Maybe 4 or 5 on one day. All I'm looking for is a nice open area without many rocks near the train tracks for my mayor's house, with a lake near.. and preferably well spaced out town hall, re-tail and plaza. And native fruit being apples. :s

I feel the same way and I ended up thinking that I'm most likely trying to find a perfect map which doesn't exist.
I got pretty simple map layout now, but there are couple of unique, little details which I enjoy. I'm also trying to think that you can make every map look great if you work on it. It can take time, but it's worth it.

I hope it works out for you soon! I kinda got lucky because after about 5 hours, I found a map I really like and the native fruit happened to be peaches! One thing I didn't like though was the train station & probably the town hall design being the same as my main town. I doubt I can even reach 100 visit on this one to upgrade the train station, but whatever :(

Not at all. I only ended up spending a few hours resetting in one night but I was able to get the perfect one. If you want a certain layout then try and get it because it will definitely be worth it

i'd love to be that persistent, but i always just end up picking from the first set rover gives me XD as long as retail is near the beach... i can't stand exiting the game over and over.....so yeah, i honestly really admire your patience!

You are still at it? Well I?m the perfectionist-type so I would keep going. When the game came out and I made my first town I didn?t have much I was looking for, I just looked at the maps and reset a few times untill I found one that I liked. Looking back I must have been extremely lucky because I still adore my map and it seems to have everything people are looking for.
So if you want my opinion, I would keep going because the map is one of the most important parts of the town. You will (hopefully) put hundreds of hours into that town, what are these few days compared to that? You just have to set a compromise for yourself and know which detail you could live without. If you found the perfect map but it had oranges, would you keep the town knowing you could never grow perfect apples? It might be too difficult to find a perfect map with the ideal fruit.- But again, as this is based on chance, your perfect map could show up on the next try or never, because chances suck, thats why I dont hunt for shinies in pokemon....

not at all! if you're searching for the perfect town, then keep on going till you find it all! i don't find it weird at all.

I don't think you are being stubborn, I'm doing to the same thing. I Sat for 8 hours yesterday and did over 80 resets and still didn't find the one, almost settled but decided to take it up today again. So don't give up sooner or later your dream map will show up and you will be glad you didn't just settle for something that wasn't what you wanted.
