Always had fireflies?

Has Animal crossing new leaf always had fireflies and I have just been dense?

Yes they have, they're only available for one month a year though so that's probably why you're confused

Yes, they only come out at night and in June so that may be why you're just now seeing them.

I never noticed them until this month so i was confused too.
