Hello,

I have been playing and up til now I have only met:
Whisp, Saharah and Gulliver washed up twice....

In new Leaf there always was a special daily event, does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong, do I not search good enough?

Also fishing and bug catching seems hard, I cannot really find many fish in the ocean. It's always the same stuff.. In New Leaf I would catch sharks if I kept at it long enough. Here I feel that the seabass is all I ever find.

Ah well. It's a fun game, though I wish tools wouldn't break.

Be checking the cliffs late at night, like 10pm. That's when whisp shows up. If you have Nook's Cranny, you should see Mable at least twice a week. (Sat and Sun)

Also, Daisy (I think that's her name?) should be visiting every Sunday morning before noon for turnips.

Other than Celeste, there really isn't any other visitors to be expecting.

EDIT: I do not believe that's correct about New Leaf having something new everyday.

EDIT 2:

Adding on, sharks are summer fish. You're not suppose to find them in March. The point of fishing isn't to only get rare fish. Just fish to fish. Donate new fish to the museum, sell others.

Run back and forth the beach. It takes 15-20 minutes to catch 30 fish, and it will make you 25,000-50,000 bells. Don't "look" for certain fish. Just fish.

I think people got too used to summer island in New Leaf. That was when you could really fish (or even catch bugs) for profit.

Another tip, make fish bait from the clams. It’ll give you more chances to catch better fish like oarfish, tuna and marlins which sell for more. :)

I'm not sure if bait actually increases the chance of rare fish to spawn. it simply spawns a fish, and what you get is up to luck. It can be helpful though by using the bait to spawn a lot of fish one after the other!

Yes. It seems bait has no impact on how rare of a fish you get. It does help though if trying to catch a fish in special areas, like clifftops, pounds, mouths, and piers, because it allows to stay in place instead of running far away and coming back.

I’m not sure either but based off my experience, I only caught the big ones using bait. All the fish that appear without bait are just the common sea bass, dab, squid and mackerel.

Based on my experience of using over 200 bait to get the stringfish - bait just forces a spawn and didn't do anything for rarity.

its just luck. when you have nook cranny ready and running you'll start seeing mabel and then she'll want to move her shop there. i just got kicks and celeste last night but this is due to me TTing since a villager moved out and then I got contacted if I wanted to adopt a villager I was looking for.

In New Leaf, a lot of the visiting NPCs actually only came once a week (Gulliver, Saharah, Redd). It just varied what day they visited.

I don't know what the routine is yet for the NPCs in this game yet. But it seems like some for sure can come more than once a week. I've seen Wisp twice now, and today will be my 8th day of playing.

it seems to me like i'm getting more visitors than i ever did in new leaf. it's almost overwhelming how many people are on my island :< new leaf would sometimes be days without anything happening, which doesn't really feel the case with new horizons.
