Airport design struggles ;_;

I'm struggling SO much to decorate my airport area, it's not even funny.. I've re-done it many times and I never end up liking it. It's because of the plaza, as you can see it's not perfectly alligned with the airport, it's basically one pixel off, to the right - and that whole thing throws me OFF because I like to do everything symmetrical and it drives me insane if it isn't, but I don't want to reset the whole island just because of that lol.

So if anyone has any ideas other than just a simple path straight forward that would be appreciated T_T I would also loooove if you could tell how you've done your airport area, or even better post a picture of it

Aw man what a wide open area, you could make that look so pretty!
My island has the airport and town hall aligned exactly and I turned the gap into the village area so I've not had this problem at all. Good luck with yours, though!

My villagers and other buildings are far off so I don't think that would work for me, but it sounds nice

My plaza is off to the right from the airport, but I put Nook's Cranny straight up from there. I planted native flowers and a native fruit tree on either side of the ramp against the rocks, then ran a fence (the picket one that Nook gives you) up to make a "chute" and added a lamppost on either side. It isn't super fancy, but it looks nice. The plaza is next to NC, so once you get up there, the whole "business section" is right in front of you - Able Sisters to the left, RS to the right.

There's still plenty of room to add more shops, if and when they are available. Far to the right, I made a little park area with a fountain, table, and chairs, and above that is the museum.

i find if you build in a curve using an object on the outsides of the path, even on one square, it looks very natural! for example, say you use trees on the outside, it would look like this:

ppp_

etc! just make it line up with how the square is off one, with the final path and you're good!
for other options tho, i purposefully build winding paths in my town using themed small objects and trees, which is also nice. you just have to pay attention to how it looks at every step a bit more, so that it isn't confusing. good luck!

Here is what I ended up doing! It looks a bit bare right now, I'm gonna add more flowers, sticks, sitting areas etc. Thanks for your suggestions :') if you have any ideas of more to add let me know .. other than I wish we had a white fence T_T

I think I have a unique design that I haven't seen anyone use yet. My airport is cover with walls like entering a castle of sort.

I love this as I have near-identical layout and same 'problem' - generally it would bother me, the one pixel off thing, but it's not in this game as I'm so happy with the layout and I don't actually know if anyone's plaza lines up perfectly in line with airport anyway, only close? Only advice I can think of is instead of trying to make it look lined up when it's not, take advantage of trying a good asymmetrical design - I'm like you in loving symmetry but sometimes asymmetrical really can look better! Good luck

Yes the trees I planted now are not symmetrical at all, I'm trying to make it look natural as the path isn't symmetrical either, but I think it worked out as shown on the images above :')

My plaza and airport are also not perfectly aligned. So my road is not going in a straight line but much more in a curvy way to the plaza. At the sides of the road (which is a dirtpath btw) i put orange trees and bamboo as well as some blue flowers and some minor decorations like those wooden sticks and the destinations post.

Normally I just plant more flowers to give it a more natural look.

Thank you! Yeah I see a lot of peoples tips on landscaping is to just plant flowers and trees, but since I seriously struggle with symmetry i don't really know how to do it without a reference or something, it's not ocd but it's annoying as hell

It really is! There's isn't a lot of plant variety going on and despite there being new flowers (which is pretty hard to obtain unless you TT or go on another player's island), it's really difficult to think up of anything to do atm. I also need some plant furniture but it's also hard to find as well.
