Okay, so the thread that originally lead me to TBT is over a year old and since necroing is against the rules, apparently, I can't vent on that, BUT, I feel it necessary to discuss it here.

I found out about Aika Village through my little sister, who eats, lives, and breathes Youtube and happened to come across TheStickyPaddle's Creepy Gaming video on it. Although outdated, it still caught my interest. I search for the Welcome Amiibo code and visited the town myself, and I have to tell you, it's incredible. I was looking for some backstory and found someone's post here who claimed to be the Aika creator's friend and gave a gruesome story. Personally I believe it's a lie and also extremely insensitive for them to be making these claims and revealing such information, especially if it turns out to be true. On top of that, I myself have a few mental disorders (and I, personally, am not shy about sharing them), including Tourette's Syndrome, MDD, PTSD, and ADHD, so I found their post rather offensive. However, it did get me thinking...

I am a huge fan of creepypastas (my favorites are Laughing Jack and Herobrine) and this seems like a really cool addition to my pasta knowledge, especially since it's a "real-life" thing that I can visit and explore for myself. I don't have my own theory yet, but I like the idea of the Aika creator leaving up to fan interpretation. It's more fun if you don't know all the details. It makes the search for "answers" that much more thrilling (shout out to Scott Cawthon and the awesomely cryptic FNAF lore that I'm STILL obsessing over). But the post that one user made, while tasteless and inconsiderate, gave me an idea.

I want to make my own "Aika"-type village. I want it to be about my own life and what I've gone through, because I think it would be interesting to see if people can figure out the truth. It seems like a unique way to share my story, but I'm afraid of people like that one user who will take things too far.

That leads to my main question: Should I or should I not go through with this idea? People on here seem pretty reasonable and have good judgement, and since this is the largest AC forum I've found so far, I figured that the opinions I gather here will be an good representation of the community on a whole. Please, tell me what you think down below. Or, if you don't want to comment, just vote on the poll.

Also, if it turns out this particular idea isn't so great, I have a fictional, FICTIONAL story idea that I can use to make my own horror-themed village, so if you think it'd be better to go with that, then please feel free to let me know.

If you have any questions about my "conditions" or concerns for my well-being, don't hesitate to post. It isn't nearly as severe as most other cases, and I'm very open about it. Rarely is a question too personal, but I'll let you know if it is. Obviously, real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. are on the list of "too personal". All I'll say about rl me is I'm an eighteen year old, bisexual girl from America. My nickname is "DJ", but "Kayo" works too. Thanks.

Ive been to akia village a few times...thecmost recent one creepeped me out the most because i got stuck inbetween a bookshelfs and akia herself in one of the houses.

In my personal opinion, I would do a fictional theme. I'm the kind of person who doesn't exactly NOT share my experiences, like I'm not going to shut someone down if they ask, but I don't volunteer them either. It has to be prompted. Because I find that if I'm just volunteering an experience that is personal to me and has a lot of meaning and someone reacts in a way I feel is negative towards it, it does make me shut down and my anxiety kick in. It makes me paranoid that they don't want to be my friend anymore because they think I'm weak or make big deals out of things, or makes me question the own validity of my feelings about my experiences. If I made a town that reflected some of them and someone said something that could be construed as negative, such as it was boring, or cliche or something like that, it would make me feel bad. And I don't want this game to make me feel bad. But if someone thought my story was boring, cliche or overdone, I'd probably use that as incentive to work even harder on my creation.

This is just me personally, but it's something for you to think about. We like to think about how we'll feel when we get positive feedback, but not when we get negative. If you made this town and got negative feedback, how would that personally make you feel? I think that's an important question to ask yourself and to be honest with yourself about before you make a decision. Whichever choice you make, good luck on your town and let us all know when it's done so we can check it out!

I went there, and I ended up creeping myself out. It's a ok town, and a horror town would be best with hacked villagers making them look creepier! It's not worth the hype though tbh

I also visited it once, it was alright, I liked the idea of the whole horror theme, tho I don't believe the story one bit. I watched plenty of videos about it & I just think its a lie, & the creator of the town just wanted clout lmfaooo & all of the videos I watched about the aika village kept talking about how the creator of the town was in an interview or some bs & they asked her whats the story behind it & she was just like theres no story behind it or something between those lines LOL + I also tried looking for that "interview" & couldn't find it??? but yeah w.e
+ I'm sure the creator was just inspired & just wanted to do a horror themed town lmao
so I mean in the end, I vote fictional story, but you can do whatever lol

Okay, I've done some thinking and I do believe honeyblossom is right. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being paranoid about thinking people would hate the idea, but I see your point. It wouldn't make me feel good at all if someone came after my personal life. That's my honest answer to your question.

On another note, the fictional idea I had... I was thinking a story similar to Yanderella, if anyone has ever played that or watched a YouTube video on it. I saw BijuuMike play, and it seemed pretty interesting. Of course, my idea isn't EXACTLY the same, but it does take a lot of inspiration from it.

There will be four houses: the Mayor's House, which will double as the main character's house, the Past house, the Now house, and the Future house. The owners of these three houses are a girl named Kako, a boy named Ima, and a girl named Mirai, respectively. The Mayor/main character is a girl named Saishu. The town is called Kioku Village. I know, I know, the names are cringy weeaboo things, but I'm deeply interested in Japanese culture and language even though I'm American.

All the houses will be expanded as far as possible, and the town itself will be surprisingly bright and colorful, with flowers and trees as well as various public works projects to give it a friendly vibe to it. There will, of course, be other items outside that contribute to the story, but it won't be as obviously twisted as Aika. The interiors of the houses will also be deceptively cheerful as well, or at least the main room will be. There will be various cryptic signs even among the joyful areas that hint at something darker. A visitor will have to really look and think to figure out how things fit together. Keep in mind the story will be loosely based on Yanderella, and there IS a Yandere character, though I'm not telling who.

I'm not going to reveal anything else about the actual story, but you may see me popping here and there around the forums looking for particular items and since the residents don't really matter to the story, I'm likely to keep a running cycle of villagers, auctioning them off for Bells or rare items in order to support the construction.

It is important to note, however, that this may take a long time, and I preferably want to get a second cartridge copy of the game so I can have Kioku Village as well as a village to play in on my own time. If anyone has anymore comments or questions, I'll try to answer as best I can. No spoilers though!

Aika village is fairly interesting, and I respect the hard work that went into it, but it is impossible - IMPOSSIBLE - to make Animal Crossing scary lol

As for the poll I voted fictional. Like honeyblossom said, there will inevitably be some person who gets super negative about your town, even if they're just doing it to troll. Or, like the example you posted, they may outright lie about knowing you and make up a fake backstory that ends up spreading. Like obviously do whatever floats your boat, but based on your concerns, the fictional story seems like it'd give you less headaches in my opinion.

Lmao I love the town for pulling weed and stuff, I don't find it creepy at all but then it's just a game and a story that I've not read so.. *shrugs*

The reason why I like Aika Village is because it's not one of those "mainstream" towns you see everytime
when you use the Dream Suite. When you look around the town, you can see that the creator has made
an effort and tried to turn the town into a horror town with a creepy story behind it. Sure, not everyone
is so fascinated about Aika Village and don't like it, which is fine, because everyone has an own opinion.
For me, it's nice to see that some player try to make a unique towns and do their best by using what the
game has to offer.

To come now to your question: Personally, I would recommend you to make a town with a fictional story
theme (so I voted for that) because I think this would work better. But of course it's up to you what kind
of town you want to make.

Thanks for the feedback guys n gals! I guess I'll go with the fictional idea I had. Kioku Town, here I come! I'll probably be bouncing back and forth on the forums to get the items and Bells I need to support the construction, and since the residents don't really matter, I'll likely be cycling them out in auctions to earn more money. Thank you for all your input! I'll see you around, I guess! Feel free to ask me more questions, but I'm not going to give out any spoilers! :)

Also, to rynlol, there are some villagers that are creepy even without hacks. Roscoe the horse has that creepy eye color change when he's mad. I know because Roscoe is in Aika Village, at least when I went there, and his eyes freaked me out. Of course, he was the first townie I talked to, so I was like, "Are all the animals this creepy?" Then I talked to Ankha and her eyes didn't do that so I was like, "Kay, chill." Lol.
