I can assuringly say that I love this game. The graphics are fantastic, the gameplay is a blast, and the best part about this game is probably the music.

The music in the game is best I've heard in anything (game, movie, etc.) besides Lord of the Rings.

The one bad part I can find is that in some of the cut scenes the eyes don't move at all and look weird because they don't relate to whats being said. (Some of the cut scenes look like they were made for a top notch movie.)

I would be futher into it if I hadn't been designing games with game maker. I'm following a tutorial right now and I might be able to make an Animal Crossing game. I have some ideas. The games I can make right now consists of where you are flying and shooting targets coming at you and mazes. If you have an idea please tell me.

Who does the music in it? Nobuo Ouematsu, right? Didn't expect anything less from him.

I think so. I just defeated a boss 2 minutes ago. The bosses aren't that difficult to beat (Which I am way happy with  ) and can really be defeated easily. Especially when your basic attack is 150+ and the opponents is 50. (I could make it 200 or more if I wanted to

;)

I'm now 10 hours in and I only like the game even more. I can't really even explain the new things I have discovered.

I am at my favorite place so far. Its a city/kingdom. It would probably take over 5 hours to do everything the city/castle has to offer. Looking at all the different kinds of tribes and mysteries I can assuringly say that I am far from beating the game.

I met my final teamate. She hasn't joined yet though.

I think, but I'm not sure, that you can buy a room in the city to store things in and heal yourself.

It really is a fantastic game. I'm probably not going to play more today because I've done so much today already. (Defeat bosses, rescue villages, escort them to safety, unveil a plan, meet new characters, etc.)

I've noticed this game really get bashed by the media, supposedly for its lackluster story and cookie-cutter characters... is that true?

Is it turn by turn or real time turn by turn?

Real time turn by turn = Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic style.

Reviews for Blue Dragon have been generally favorable,[17] while very few multi-platform sites have been harsh in their reviews of the game.

Most of the reviewers are praising the game for it's old school approach, whereas a few reviewers criticize it for that very reason. The story has come under scrutiny by those reviewers for being too generic like most classic Japanese RPG's and as well as the first disc for being too slow paced for the average gamer. Others have praised the graphics quality and the soundtrack.
I personally find the game fast paced as it is. Maybe thats because I don't play games every day. The main plot isn't clear right now but things are moving along. It feels like last night I faced the land shark and my first poo snake.

Wait... you say the main plot isn't clear right now... and how much have you been playing?

And what about the characters? Do they at least feel real, or are they Dragon Ball Z knock-offs?

Well, I can't really describe it well but 100,000 years ago magic users thrived. The king felt that the non-magic users were discriminated against and he had machines devloped for them to use. So an engine that never runs out (because it doesn't run on anything) was made.

I also know from playing the demo that Nene (The antagonist) was alive back then and is looking for a medicine to regain his strength/youth.

I think the young king has found the engine and is trying to make it work or something.

So far the plot has been to rejoin the protagonist's village that they got separated from. On the way back to it they helped out a bat Village that was plagued by Nene. (Nene, for some reason, gave a character a shadow power.)

Shu has shown himself to never give up no matter the threat.

Kiro, a boy who is shy about being rich, is extremely smart and is good friends with Shu. (He might have a thing for the Kluke but I'm not sure. A cut scene I saw in a preview said Shu might.)

Kluke lost her parents to a land shark and since then has matured into an adult. She is afraid to cry in front of others and understands more than anyone what it means to hold on to someone they love.

Narumaro is a yellow short bat who always yells. He has a thing for "Lady Zola". I really haven't seen much of him to get a good idea but he and Shu are like brothers and he is reckless at times.

Zola I just met so I can't really say much but she seems to know a lot of the secrets of the world.

Thats vaugly what I know about the characters so far.

I do know that Kluke does cry in front of Shu when he won't leave her because they think she is going to explode.

Finished the 1st disk in about 11 and a half hours. Fantastic ending to what I'm going to call the first act. The King joined his army as they boarded a flying castle with hot air balloons.

I'm not going to go into detail but I caught something that was hinted at. Nene has a weak body as is looking for a medicine to regain his strength (You give it to him, found out in the demo) Anyways, probably the toughest part in the game because you have to face 5 bosses pretty close together. I'm a little frustrated right now because I got a lot of new skills but went into an area that was to tough for me (wasn't supposed to go in there for a while, didn't know) and I died after taking 3 groups of enemies at once.
