Advice for redecorating your villagers' houses?

I try to keep my villager's houses relatively well decorated; most are okay and don't swap out their stuff too often, and when they do I can just go to their house and buy whatever t-shirt they have on display.

However.

MARSHAL.

He manages to lose his sloppy stuff and replace it with really random pieces of furniture. He also has random bugs and fish on his furniture that I really need to replace.

Does anyone has good advice as to how to redecorate your villager's houses? I assume sending furniture in the mail will work, but I don't want Marshal to replace his sloppy stereo. :/

You'll have to do a few things:
• fill up retail so they can't remove things and then place them up there for sale.
• STOP doing any bug / fish requests.
• be wary of gifting a villager a gift from another villager.
• when they ask you to come over, go and proceed to buy them until they sell the unwanted item
• mail them their original furniture, apparently only one a day though.

That's the really odd thing; I didn't do any of his bug requests yet he still seems to have 2 in his house. Maybe I did and I forgot I did...

Urgh this is gonna take a while. o_o

Marshal's sloppy stereo is one of the pieces he refuses to sell/replace so you don't have to worry about that.
