I want it to be influenced by the cabin series, but I also don't want an overly monotonous theme of just cabin furniture. How can I mix it up but still keep a cottagey feel to it? What are some good wallpaper/floor combos? Any advice is appreciated!

Look at the Modern Wood series too! or alpine! I like the alpine wallpaper a lot....

Don't forget to put fireplace in the room c: and stuff from camping NPCs maybe? like campfire cookware and stuff..
and maybe wood panel wall & flooring.. Can't think of names right now @_@

in my cozy room, I used the exotic wall and parquet floor! I have cabin, ranch and classic furniture in the room.

You can put the meadow vista or autumn wallpaper in the back room to symbolize a backyard or back porch of some sort if you want to do a cottage in the woods. Put some aries rocking chairs in there to symbolize sheep and line the walls with flowers and you've got the wild. You could also add a picnic table, lawn chairs, a picnic basket, a bonfire, a campfire, and etc.

You could change the patterns on the alpine and cabin series to make them look more unique, maybe? I don't have a lot to add to the ideas above, but I think that the custom versions of those sets look really nice.

The cabana series could be nice for a cottage, the round carpet or the green rug may fit. Classic and alpine furniture is a good choice for a cosy atmosphere.

I suggest not fully expanding your house. Leaving your rooms 6x6 will make it more cosy :)
