So I have two copies of the game, one that I got recently and one I've had for years, and I have two 3DS systems. I use my New 3DS XL for all my games except my second copy of ACNL which I use the Black Friday new 3ds to play but I find it annoying having two separate systems just to play one game. If I decide to play my second copy of ACNL on my 3ds will that affect the street pass on them? Also if I TT on one will the other also TT? And Finally will having the update on one cartridge update the other one?
Advantages and Disadvantages of using the same 3DS for two cartridges?

The update is saved to the system's SD card, unless you have a copy of the Welcome Amiibo ACNL, then it's on the cartridge itself. Everything is saved to the cart, so if you TT in-game, it won't affect the time and day in the second cartridge. If you change the date on the system's clock, then it would affect all games.

I have four physical copies of NL and three 3DSes, which are interchanged constantly...and I haven't had a single issue with anything. All of my systems have been updated with the WA update and everything works fine. So I really don't see how you would have any problems. Unless it's with streetpass, because I have yet to actually do anything with it. I really should, though...

The only downsides of getting rid of one of your 3DSes is you can't StreetPass yourself and you can't trade items/villagers between towns. If you don't care about those things, then it's not a problem.

Moved my main town cartridge to a different 3DS when I bought a 2nd one. All the tags from the 1st 3DS stayed with my main town cartridge. I didn't do a transfer because I had a digital copy on both systems. Got the gold badge from two different 3DS.
I do like having the games on different systems. It makes it easier to visit my towns, do buy/sell turnips on the same day (80 million ) and sell items on premium.
If you move your game and update in the dream suite the address changes.

I definitely would not get rid of the other 3DS because that means you can't exchange items villagers between your two towns (and signing petitions from your villagers, using the other town to store stuff, etc). That's the whole reason I went out and bought another 3DS and NL cartridge. It's really useful for me, but if you don't do it frequently then I suppose it doesn't matter.
