Is it possible to add a friend through the Switch and have them show up as a friend in the game WITHOUT playing together? I've been trying to get some items to someone but we're never online at the same time... I could mail them if we were in-game friends so I was hoping this would be a way around it!

unfortunately, to have someone on your acnh nook phone friend list, you'll have to visit each other (either you go to theirs or vice versa) at least once to manually add them while you're visiting/them visiting you. being friends on the switch alone won't add them to your in game contact list.

no worries! glad i could answer you. yeah unfortunately, this along with other features in the game requires you to actually go and interact with others if you want certain things to be done/or get in the game lol....i hope you and your friend will manage to work out a time that works for both of you to play together though!
It's actually me trying to pay @hzl some NMT for art she made me but we're never online at the same time so I thought if I could mail them it'd be so much easier XD
If it goes on much longer I might ask about paying in TBT to see if that's easier. I feel bad it's taking so long just because of schedules!
