AC is a very addicting game. And I think this forum just makes it worse. It just gives me more reasons to want to play it. 
Now I am getting into the forum collectibles. It is fun like collecting all of the rare items in the game.

I wouldn't say I care about it more than other things but AC is just so addictive. I don't think I could go a day without checking my town.
How has restarting affected you? I think I would have trouble putting the game down because I would be trying to do everything at once to "catch up" to where I was before. Villagers, items, bells, paths, PWPs, plot-resetting.... I'd probably need someone to pry it out of my hands at the end of the day!
actually, i haven't played much since i restarted. i stayed home today to complete all the school work that i didn't do because of my old town LOL. starting now i'm only playing acnl for no more than 2 hours a day. ahhh
i set up all my paths already (well, not really. just kind of an idea of where i want things to go) which was really easy considering the town layout is just.. *heart eyes*
i won't rush to get the sewing machine though, but i'm going to have to plot reset for beau today and that won't be fun considering all the damn space i have u__u HELP ME TAKE IT AWAY

Forum collectibles are the little pictures under my avatar. You can buy them from the shop with tbt. You can get tbt by posting or trading for things in the tbt marketplace. Different collectibles are sold for special events. I have been trying to get all of the Halloween candies, but I ran out of tbt for the last one. lol Also the shop tends to get crazy when there is a restock, but it is still fun.

Just try to limit yourself when you play. I don't always have a lot of time to play so I just play for short periods of time. It helps when I make mental lists of tasks and then start with the most important ones, since that way I won't feel like I've missed out on the important or fun things while I could still play.
I think it's important that you ask yourself why your life is becoming less important to you than ACNL. If you don't have many other things to do or if you're unhappy with your life, it's understandable that you'd find ACNL comforting and fun, but it shouldn't prevent you from living your life.

It is cycling for others that keeps me 'obsessed' with the game, otherwise I would be logged in for only a few minutes every day (for the most part). I still very much enjoy my main town, but have been waiting for more free time to get lost in it and aim for more ridiculous medals.

I used to be totally addicted to this game but then i just got bored of it. every day it was just the same routine over and over.
Since I started playing AC I've ignored a lot of real life stuff. I've been forgetting to check emails and replying to chats or texts. LOL I've also had less time for drawing but I think I'm a little less addicted to the game now. I still work on my town though and I still play it even when I have fantasy life. But yea, it has helped me get over some things happening in real life. So I wouldn't say it was all that bad.
