ACNL Hacks

Hello! I'd like to start off this post with "I'm not a hacker" I've never done it before. I've seen where people put plants and such in water?! That's the coolest thing ever! I've done some googling, only to discover it was done with hacks. I did some more searching and found quite the information. I've read through most the instructions and such but I'm not 100% convinced I should do it or not. Should I do it? Is it worth it? My 3DS version is 11.2.0-35U and I have the new 3DS XL. I mean, if I do end up doing it, is it even possible with my version?

i tried doing it like 4 months ago but it didn't work for me so... i never tried it before so i might have done it incorrectly. i'm not sure if we're allowed to talk about this though
