I want to work on a tumblr with plenty of guides for ACNL, and I know I know a lot about the game, but I need some prompts to get started really so

What're some things I could cover in an extensive AC;NL guide?

ACNL guides you're speaking my language.

I'd say some of the more 'minor' stuff, stuff that doesn't really get guides but people still find them useful. Probably ones like decorating villagers houses (I've actually seen one good guide on this and have done my own experimenting), pathwork help, colour scheme help, such as which flowers go nice together, both using their petals type and colors they come in. Ex pink lillies are great for a pastel town, but all the other pink flowers are a bit too bold to be considered 'pastel'.

Then stuff for the animals, stuff involving their house exterior, which ones look good for what for what town, color scheme ect... So far the closest and only thing I've seen was a post on tumblr that had a list of villagers with woodsy house exteriors. It don't include WA animals thou.

Maybe a guide on the WA items, such as 'yes Harvey sells that item BUT instead of waiting for him to have it in his shop you can summon XXX animal and get it from them'.

Probably listing things like the villager cycle, which Amiibo products you are able to let move in with others, how to prevent move outs during a hiatus, and other stuff relating to villagers moving. I feel as if that stuff is not common knowledge for the most part and is really helpful; I have yet to see it mentioned in a formal guide. There is so much stuff like that you just find out from experimenting.

Some of the main things I look to guides for are the following:

- Hybrid breeding
- Plot Resetting
- Time traveling (safely so villagers don't leave or to cycle)
- Landscaping (rules for planting trees/bushes as well as general tips)
- Events (what to do and what items you can get)
- Coffee orders for villagers and NPCs
- Gracie fashion check guide
- Feng Shui guide (used to care about this but not so much anymore)
- Interior decorating guide (including how to get HHA points)
- Bridge, PWP, and villager house placement (how much space is needed)
- Fish/bug catching guide (including when they are available)
- Art forgery guide

That's all I can think of right now. I already have a few trustworthy sites for some of those (like artwork), but others are hard to find consistent or good information sometimes (hybrid breeding and placement guides).

A good holiday guide. Thonky is pretty good but I found it kind of vague leading up to Halloween and the Harvest Festival, and it doesn't mention that for the Harvest Festival, you'll need to do a bunch of fishing in order to have fish to trade for ingredients, above and beyond what it tells you to collect to be prepared. It also doesn't mention that the ingredients list is "one of each so you are prepared for every possible recipe" and makes it sound like you need all of them to do the holiday. For Toy Day, it's a bit vague about what Jingle will give you. I'm also not sure if I can do it on every character?

Also, clearly delineating what is mayor-only vs something everyone can do. Also, what's available daily for every character (the money rock, updating the dream address) vs once a day per town (the ore rock, Wisp).

For amiibo, something I did was go to MoriDB and grab every item available via the villager RVs and put it into a spreadsheet. I then sorted by item and flagged every repeat item. This let me see that 6 villagers (Hornsby, Plucky, Buzz, Ketchup, Carrie, and Jacob) aren't worth tracking down, because they don't have any unique items that can't be gotten otherwise. (Jacob does have two cardboard pieces though so he's slightly more attractive than the other five.) I did the same for amiibo figures when deciding what to buy. I also had to figure out which amiibo would work with the game and summon which character, this information is a bit hard to find and is tricky for the Zelda figures especially. Something that would gather info like this into one place would be helpful.

Information about Streetpassing--that you can pick up villagers, what can and can't be ordered (refurbs even more than non-reorderables) and that it costs more than the store--Digby says this but I didn't register it. That when you hit 10 streetpasses with another game, it resets to zero so you can cycle through with the same person to get balloons and pinwheels and things that you're missing.

Oh, also an updated theme list--none of the FAQs I've seen/MoriDB have information on the themes for WA items (except MoriDB has most Sanrio items classified as Fairy Tale). I don't know how this information is obtained though so this might not be feasible.

A good refurb guide would be awesome, there are some on Tumblr but I find them hard to navigate. Maybe because I'm an olds who never has understood Tumblr.
In general, I also want a better moridb, I hate that I can't search within my catalogs.

Last I looked, there was a very large niche to fill with landscaping guides. I know it's usually "Anything goes", but it'd be nice to see some tips on helping emulate a theme.

Just wanted to add that a guide to a lot of the WA content would be well appreciated. It seems like a lot of the guides were written before WA and updated just enough to say 'oh there was this update' but without going into specifics. WA villager and NPC RV items, Harvey's items, WA villager exteriors, etc...

+1 to Landscaping stuff as well. I particularly like Stella-Io's idea regarding flower arranging. A lot of guides assume that you know what all the PWPs look like, how much space they'll need, and what every flower, bush, tree look like, so I agree with imiya there is definitely a niche for going in-depth a bit. Also, you could have a master list of links leading to other people's QR code blogs. That would be very convenient.

Wow, everyone has said a ton of great info, I didn't even know all the stuff about the villager cycle...
But also some little quirky tips might be fun too?

Some I've learned are:
-if you plant a pitfall, none will spawn in your town
-during hide and seek, the music gets louder the closer you get to an animal (though personally I have yet to really notice the difference on this one)
-uchi and cranky villagers can sell you paintings, (only paintings not statues) uchis also sell at a bit lower depending on friendship level though
-you're more likely to catch rare fish on snowy days in winter and rainy days in summer
-you can get special text from Shrunk if you give perfect fruit/special items like the Valentine's cake
-if you write a Valentine's letter to an animal and mail a flower, they will display it in their house (I've tried this out and it worked with all mine, but it might be due to friendship level, so not sure)
-cedars only grow north of town (above the river)
-villagers can tell you whether you have Gulliver or Phineas in town too
-if you don't want to dig holes every time for money rock, just plant bushes one space behind all your rocks
-DON'T EAT OR SELL YOUR FIRST PERFECT FRUIT, PLANT IT xD (trust me, it took me like half a year to get my next one naturally)
-sea bass shadows are always fat, rare fish are almost always longer and skinnier
-bushes only line up to 12 max in a row
-if you have 3 bridges villagers will not suggest bridge public works to you
-if you sit down on a chair or cushion and it makes a sound, it means you have bad luck that day

Oh and I've kinda mixed in beginner tips and general hidden ones, or things you might not know until playing for a while, because I'm not sure if it's extensively for a new player.

I did notice the fart noise when you sit on chairs, but I always thought it was cause the characer was wearing denim so that's why the chair made that noise. How have I never encountered this NOT wearing denim pants or a skirt? Idek.
Also I will now be looking for the music in hide & seek, sometimes they're hard to find in Moriyo since it's so planty.

Gracie checks~! although i havent been met gracie but people who have might able to give tips!
