Today, there was a car crash outside my house, one of the worst I've ever seen.
There was a car going at least 100 mph down my street, it rode up my neighbor's yard (which just had to be a hill?) clipped their car, fell in the next yard, and skidded/bounced to the third and final yard, ending upside down and lodged inside their house. I was inside at the time, but my mom saw the whole thing while out on our porch. The wreck was horrible; one wheel fell off, all the windows were broken, the roof was crushed and the doors were coming off. The driver is alive at least, and the house he crashed into has structural damage and no one can go in. Luckily the family that lives in the house was on vacation. Link to article
So, have you ever been in an accident, or witnessed one firsthand?

The street corner we lived on when I was a kid was an accident magnet. It should have been a four way stop, but there were no stop signs, and our house was right on the corner of it. I'll just give a couple examples of accidents I saw since there was probably one every other month. (they did eventually give the corner a couple of stop signs)

There was one time where a car was speeding down one direction and another was coming leisurely through the intersection. Speed racer notices a car in the intersection and knows he doesn't have time to stop. So, he makes the logical conclusion and swerves toward the nearest TREE; which just happened to be in my front yard. We did have a wooden fence... DID. The car took out half of our fence and rammed into the large tree in our front yard. If it hadn't been for that tree, he would have gone into my family's living room where half of my family sat at the time. So, thank you tree. Also, the tree was unharmed in the making of this accident... car and driver, not so much.

There was another one that was pretty bad, but I didn't actually see it happen. All I actually know is that there was a (speculatively) blind old lady driving down the road faster than she should have been and on the wrong side of the road, and there was a motorcyclist riding down the road probably faster than he should have been (and without a helmet). Next thing you know, old lady hits motorcycle, motorcyclist bounces into my neighbor's yard, and I'm not sure if he made it or not but the situation seemed quite dire. :(

I was actually in an accident at the beginning of the year!!
I drove out to finish my dress ready for my Uni interview but hit some black ice half way there, went into a hedge and flipped my car onto its roof, smashed in the roof, this is actually a photo from the scene.... My dad has photos of it right ways up, the passenger side and the roof were completely caved in, I was super lucky to come out of it with only a cut wrist and severe bruising.... Worst part is, I was only going 12mph so you can't even claim me to be a racer!!! I even got a minor on my test for being too safe!!! Lol

Well one time outside the Dunkin Donuts there was a car that crashed into a fire hydrant and a bunch of police care surrounding the car that crashed. :(

One time my family was in our car, driving down one of the busier streets. From the opposite side of the street, and motorcycle started to go across and popped a wheelie, and because it was super dark, and its headlight was up in the sky, a car from it's right smashed right into it. The man in the motorcycle flew a good 40 or more feet. Everyone was okay in the end but the girl felt really bad for hitting him, even though it wasn't her fault at all.

My, that picture is... *loss for words* Ninjan, can you elaborate on "severe bruising?" Did you require physical therapy? Do you feel any residual pain- whether physical or trauma? If these questions are difficult- please ignore. Very glad you're up & seemingly, right as rain! =)

Edit: What's that odd animal-like thing on the right side?

I've witnessed one.

At around February/March my mum I drove to the local mall and as soon as we parked our car got out of it we saw a person not too far away accidentally reversing their car too much and so their car hit another car and the car that was hit went into a tree. Luckily the driver wasn't hurt and both cars weren't damaged that badly. But the driver (who turned out to be a middle aged lady) was freaking out as the car she was driving was her daughter's new car. My mum went to her and tried to comfort her as best as she could and a couple of others came and tried to help as well. Luckily the car that went into a tree was from someone the woman knew.

In that article, it said "said Kathy Porter, who was reading a book and just thinking about how nice the day was on the porch of her home on Hunter Avenue."

Did your mom just get quoted in that news article? :D

My mom's old minivan was like a target for some people. We kept getting in so many near-hits with that thing...

My two sisters were hit by a car. One of them got hit by the sideview mirror, the other got hit from the front and kind of went flying a bit into the intersection. The light had just turned green and they crossed. They weren't paying attention, and the driving clearly wasn't paying attention.

Another time, my mother and stepfather were driving their motorcycle down a suburban street, and someone backed their car out and hit them. My mother got a small sprained ankle, but they were otherwise fine.

Another time, my family was coming back from a trip in winter, and we were driving on the Pennsylvania turnpike, and a tree branch fell right in front of us. We ran over it, and it got lodged underneath the van and made a horrible noise when we drove, so we pulled over and got it out.

Literally just head to toe bruising, it hurt to move but nothing super bad - apart from when I went to work which was a bad idea!
Had night terrors for awhile after it and didn't want to get back into cars for sometime, but Im okay now, don't like driving as much as I did beforehand but will still drive.

I think that was insulation from my car also lol

Yep. She was on channel 2, 4, and 7 news last night, too. She met Pat Battles (if anyone knows her.)

I wasn't at the scene, But my family was in a car crash.
I was home alone one night. It was 10 or 11:00 at night, And I got a call from my dad. He said he and Mom, Along with my older brother and sister, got in a car crash. Apparently a drunken ass waltzed along the road in his Lamborghini, and he crashed into my dad's Honda Civic. I asked if everyone was ok, and he said nobody was hurt bad enough to go to the hospital, And he asked me to go to my neighbor's house.
Ironically enough, only the drunk ass was sent to the hospital.

A few years ago I witnessed a car accident. I was in the car with my best friend at the intersection waiting for the traffic lights to change and I looked up and seen this car smash straight into a tree, the driver didn't even try to slow down and he died instantly. I was a mess when we found out he died I tried me best to help him but obviously there wasn't anything I could do. I had nightmares for ages after that, every time I closed my eyes I just seen the car hitting the tree.

One time at school I peed my pants. :(
But for real, one time I was driving with my father and sister, and we see a car crash into a pole. At least I think so. I was in the back and was also kinda tired, so I couldn't see much. My father went to go check it out while my sister called 911. The police came and questioned my father about what happened. The guy in the car got hurt, huge cut on his face. He's okay now though.
Nothing really exciting is it?

Never witnessed them but every now and then when my dad iss driving on the highway,I'll see a car crash or two and police.

I've almost been in a couple accidents... And I have seen a couple accidents and crashes, like once I heard a loud CRASH, looked and saw a car with it's front very damaged. I think what happened was a car was coming down from an exit while the other was running a red light. The red-light-runner was very lucky too, if she would've went a little farther the side of her care would've got it instead.

And about 3 years ago (almost exactly) my dad was in a crash. He was driving on a two lane road when someone was coming, and it just so happened he had some kind of disorder where he just passes out randomly. It was on a turn and my dad saw him going straight heading towards his lane, and before he could do anything it ram the side of his truck. Luckily he didn't really have any injuries, just got jerked a little. The truck ended up being totaled, which sucks because we have many memories in it... But with the money we got he gave me and my sister each 100 dollars, which wasn't the worst. :)

And just like a couple weeks ago I saw a minor accident where someone went to change lanes a little too soon and bumped the other person.

I pulled into a diner and there was a bunch of police cars and ambulances on the other side of the road. The story was that there was an old man driving alone, he got a heart attack and let go of the wheel. The car went over the median and crashed into another car (don't quote me on this). I was wondering what killed him; The crash or the heart attack...
