Hey guys, as the title states, New Leaf won't launch on my 3DS XL! :c

**I have the physical copy, not digital**

Yesterday I played for maybe 4-5 hours of Animal Crossing (just resetted and felt I had to catch up) then stopped. When I decided to start up today, the game opened up, the train started moving, then the train stopped. A few seconds later I get a bubble that reads this:

'An error has occurred,
forcing the software to close.

The system will now restart.
(Unsaved data may be lost.)

OH MY HOD ASDFGHJL TT^TT

This happens every time I start the game now. I do know that the problem is the game itself and not the 3DS. Pok?mon X loads up fine and my friends AC:NL works in my 3DS, obviously, mine doesn't work in theirs. I've found few of reports exactly like mine (around three?), but those didn't have answers that helped. As stated at the top, I have a physical copy and not a digital, so I can't run the error tool or backup my saves.

I really hope somebody here helps, from what I've heard, Nintendo customer support is pretty useless (I'm also scared of talking to people over the phone, so customer support is basically a last resort). ):

Umm... it sounds like there could be some physical damage to the cartridge.
Other than that, when you played the last time, did you save and quit properly (for example, without removing the cartridge while saving and giving it enough time to save without going to the home screen)?

I'm pretty sure I saved properly, The cartridge was left in until I decided to play today. )-:

Check your SD card. There might be a loose connection when you tilt your device.
Copy the error message to Google and you'll find it's a common problem.

To confirm whether or not it's your DS or the game, try other cartridges or try your game in someone else's DS. Don't go messing with save files or formatting unless you have no other option, or if you don't mind losing your town and other save files.

^ She said she already tried other games and her broken cartridge in another 3DS, so the good news: Your 3DS is fine. The bad news: Your cartridge is probably beyond repair. :/ Did something happen to it or is there someone else playing your game? I never heard about a game just breaking at random.

And how would you format anything? I thought it saves on the cartridge itself and not on the 3DS.

Google explains formatting/updating your SD or 3DS. But you'll lose all data so it's an end solution.

OP has a physical copy of the game, which is not stored on the SD card so how could formatting your SD card help in any way?

oh my god. *facepalm*

I don't quite understand your comment since the OP wrote that all other games on the system work BUT AC:NL -

If it was something to do with the 3DS, I'd assume that other games would be giving him/her trouble, too.
So really, there's no need for your snide remark.

The 3ds is fine, but the cartridge is broken. Mayby you did it or someone else broked it or you bought it already broke.

^ This pretty much. There is no use formatting your SD Card or 3DS if the saves are on the cartridge itself. This might work with the digital version but I'm pretty sure it will not with the cartridge, so what's your deal Oath2Order? How about trying to help instead of posting that useless and rude comment?

Why not shoot an Email at the customer support if you don't want to call them? I doubt it but they may be able to help you better.
