About villager houses

I have a few questions about villager houses I can't find answers to, so any help would be appreciated!

1. I was under the impression that villagers can move in absolutely anywhere they fit (so, still leaving space next to rocks and things) but after plot resetting a lot it seems like they're usually in the same spot?

2. I'd like to demolish and rebuild a bridge in my town but i'm worried it's too close to a villager's home to be rebuilt. i dont want to try it and realise i cant rebuild it. this is a (very blurry haha) picture of my map and i outlined bluebear's house and the bridge:

I had the same problem, I wanted to change my bridge

i destroyed it and couldnt rebuild it bc it was too close to something else D:



and i hate the new spot its in.

I say dont risk it

About plot resetting, this probably sound weird but Penelope would NOT change area, and would always plot around the same annoying area. But when i switched my ds completely off and on again and tried then she changed places drastically every single reset. It was probably just luck tho

aw man that REALLY sucks.. . the bridge leads into a forest area and i use wood paths. they look SO bad with a nasty cobble stone bridge between them. i want a suspension bridge there ;--; I counted out the spaces and the bridge is like 3 spaces above the villager's house. i dont think i could budge it up at all... Do you think I could get away with a vertical bridge goign across the river directly above the offending villager's house?

@Clavis: okay i guess i'll give that a go.. i'm so determined to have my villagers live in little neighbourhood areas because my town is SO cluttered right now, but chief wants to move in just everywhere away from the other villagers... especially around my mayor's house, which i want to be completely empty....-.-

Most of my new villagers tend to plot their houses where my past villagers had their houses

seems like that's happening a lot, or he plots it kinda like around the same space. I wonder if it's not relaly random and there are set villager house areas?
