Yeah! People love the game. Whenever I sell it I'm like "Congrats, you just bought your life away." and they look at me like I'm joking/crazy when I'm seriously not.
About to make yet another rash decision...

Well. I have three copies... and I also bought a second 3DS to be able to trade stuff+villagers between them. I have accomplished almost everything on my 1st (main) town; now I mostly play my 2nd town. My 3rd town is mainly for cycling purposes. But now I would like to reset and develop my 3rd town, too, which would mean not having a cycling town anymore, so I kinda want a 4th copy... but no *slaps fingers*!
I do have a job and a significant other and friends and other hobbies, and AC is really robbing me of my life/time with all the pointless digital little goals I set for myself in it - but I love it, it's like a little safe space in my pocket when everything else is just overwhelming. It turns my 3DS into a really strong magnet and my brain into happy pudding.
So, if you are ok with all the "wasted" time you'll spend on it and you really want it, go for it. Don't care what others think, just care what YOU want and what makes you happy.
