Well, it turns out that Fang, one of my villagers, is leaving town today; and the unfortunate part of it is that I wanted for him to stay in my town. D: I really don't want to lose him, but since I am not a time traveler, I really don't know how long it could take to cycle out 16 villagers for him. Is there anyone out there willing to give me advice on this matter or someone trustworthy enough to hold him until I cycle out enough? I also don't want any risk of losing my other four villagers I'd like to keep, so I'd also appreciate any advice on how to not lose them.

I apologize if I posted this thread in the wrong section, as I'm pretty sure since I'm not giving him away that it does fall under the Villager Trading Plaza section. I have less than 7 hours until he moves out, so thanks to anyone who helps! :)

Interestingly enough, TTing (even temporarilly) can help you keep your desired villagers. If you don't technically want to TT at all, every 3 or 4 days, TT 6 days ahead and start a new file to see if anyone moved. Then you can TT back to the day you were on and get them to ping to convince them to stay. It's much more reliable than taking chances, and doesn't count as TTing at all.

Wait...exactly what does this mean? ^^;; I'm not sure if you're saying this is a way to keep Fang in my town or to help cycle out my villagers safely, but I'm still not really willing to time travel if there's any risk. I used to time travel in my Wild World and City Folk games, but stopped, making it the reason I don't to this day. But thanks for your input anyway! :)

No, there's nothing you can do about Fang unless you adopt him to someone who will give him back later :< I was just telling you how to make sure non of your other dreamies move out. There is no risk unless you accidentally start on your mayor when you TT6 days, as anything that happens is permanent. When you start a new file, it doesn't save, so you can see who's moved out and TT back and they'll still be in your village.

Also, cycling in real time will take a very long time to go through 16 villagers I'm sure... I don't know if anyone would hold him that long. You might be better just adopting him out and then getting a new Fang once you can adopt him back.

Okay...well, thanks again! :) I'll try to figure out this mess in the meantime. ^^;

Also, I'm not really sure; is it actually appropriate to have this serve as a holding thread? As I said before, I'm not entirely sure that this applied to the trading section.

I'm sorry for bringing this thread back, but I have a question regarding cycling. I'm going to begin soon and I'm wondering about this:

In order to change the time for cycling, I have two options: the game's clock and the 3DS system's clock. I'm not sure which is the best, but I'm leaning towards changing the game's clock since I don't want to mess up my 3DS's activity log and anything else that applies to time. I'm thinking that if I do this and tweak the 3DS's time by about a minute once I'm done cycling, I'll be able to re-sync the game's and 3DS's times again. However, I haven't tested this and would like to find out by anyone who has done this before. I'm sorry if I rambled a bit when explaining, but thanks for any help! I can also re-explain it if necessary. ^^;

I always just change the games clock. It never seems to mess anything up for any other games and it's the easiest way.

Thanks for responding! :) Do you know if you can actually re-sync the game's and system's times back together, though? Like I said, I would change the system's time by a small bit and see if it carries over to New Leaf, but I'm still not sure if it would work properly.

It's possible to resync them, just change your game clock to match the system's clock. Doing it the other way around will still result in a discrepancy.

Basically, every time you change your system clock, your game clock changes as well. If I set the system clock to tomorrow's date then my game clock will move 1 day forward...regardless of what date it is in the game right now and whether or not the clocks match.

Hm...I thought that just like if you change the day on the 3DS, if you change the time by about a minute on the 3DS that it will resync the game and system back? I'm not sure if you're saying it's impossible to do it, but thanks for your response! Even if it's a little bit off if I change the game's time back to the system's time, it won't really matter too much to me. :)

EDIT: Never mind, I think I understand now! ^^;

For example, once I'm done cycling and the game's and system's times still differ, when I change the system's time by even a minute it won't resync them and will only add a minute onto the game's time? I believe that's what you meant and I apologize about not being able to understand...I misread it slightly.
