a riddle I heard 2dayyy

Once upon a magic fairy land a police man found a dead body, in one hand there was a tape recorder and in the other a gun. The first thing the cop did was pick up the tape recorder and hit play, he heard;
"I hate my life, my wife left me, I lost my job and I lost custody of my kids......(*gun shot*)"
Later on the policeman reported the death as a homicide instead of a suicide...why?

I'm not sure if this is right, but, I think the gun shot the policeman heard wasn't the man killing himself. Someone else killed him and put the gun in the guy's hand so it would look like he killed himself.

Oh oh is it because the gunshot was during mid sentence ???

Either somebody shot him to put him out of his misery/shut him up and left the gun, or the killer
was so sad, he went berserk and killed him and left the gun.

Because the policeman can time travel to the past and find that a different guy killed him, because in magic fairy lands people can time travel.
