I really like getting to know new villagers. There are soooo many good ones! I don't think i could possibly get all of the ones I want changing only once a week or less often.
I haven't time traveled yet, but I'm close to finishing my island and I'm thinking about TTing to switch villagers faster...

So, what's the best method?
Pros/cons?
Afterwards I can come back to the current date? What will have changed?
Just tell me anything you think I need to know!

im not rly a time traveler so i dont have much to say about that, but if ur thinking about changing villagers often i think itd be in ur best interest to try to get their picture so u can always remember them!! it takes a bit but if u have the resources to craft them gifts u could do it pretty quickly.

To get rid of villagers or just TT in general?

Personally when I'm getting rid of a villager, I TT 15 days into the future and then go day by day to transfer the thought bubble if need be. If the wrong villager has the bubble, I quit the game and TT to the next day. I usually do around 1-3pm as lots of villagers are out at this time. So far this is the method that has worked best for me! Then, once the villager asks me to leave, I TT back to present day. It will still be the "I'm leaving" day for the villager, so if you talk to them they'll mention they're leaving but won't be in boxes yet.

Probably the worst things about this method are weeds can grow, and if you get a lot of rain you can have a TON of flower overgrowth.

Also, if you're hoping to avoid spoilers for future seasons, you can TT back to like March and then go forward the 15 days.

Hope this helps!

Edit: I also second the above post, try to get photos if you can but I recommend at least having them at Harv's so you can get their poster :) Best way to get photos from my experience is giving wrapped foreign fruit every day!

It does! Thanks!

from my experience, the only drawback for me personally are just how annoying the weeds/flowers can end up overtaking your island after a significant leap. i don't really care much about turnips/pricing so that's a factor i ignore completely but tt'ing in general, whether it's ahead or backwards can affect your turnip sell price. im sure you're already aware of this.

in your case however, since you just wanna get rid of villagers/cycle them out then it's best you just stick to the 15 days method. change your switch's system date to 15 days, enter the game, check for thought bubbles, if it's not the one you want out/or any bubbles at all, save, close the game and repeat another 15 days. usually someone will always think about moving away. now ofc if you want to do this for multiple villagers...get ready for a lot of weeds. if you don't want to deal with that, just lay down invisible designs all over your island ground so none can spawn lol. also, to answer your other question, you can just go back to present day/the past with no consequences in terms of villagers/interactions.

good luck with whatever you end up deciding to do!

I TT quite a lot. The really awesome thing about NH is that villagers will not leave unless you give them permission to leave.

If you want to TT to let a villager leave, you would be able to do that, just look for the villager with a though bubble to see if they want to leave. If that’s the villager you want to leave then let them.

Once you give them permission, they will be in boxes and ready to leave the next day. It is at this point you can let someone else come to your town to get the moving out villager. After that day, you will have an EMPTY PLOT! YAY! With this empty plot, you can recruit another villager from the mystery island OR get it from someone. If you don’t, the game will auto-move someone in your town at random.

I would advise you NOT TO TT BACKWARDS during this time frame (villager says they’re moving and you approve, villager in boxes, empty plot, plot with a SOLD sign, villager moved in in boxes) in order to avoid any potential glitches.

Once the villager has moved in and settled (as in not in boxes) you are safe to TT to your heart’s content.

If you decide to move back to the initial day, nothing much would have happened.

The only consequences is that if you have any unfenced flowers or weeds... Be prepared to get an infestation of uncontrolled flowers and potentially weeds.

That’s basically it.

kicking villagers, I like the leap/backpedal/hop method:

- go 1 month into the future (leap)
- go back 1 month minus one day (backpedal)
- TT day by day until the thought bubble lands on the villager you want to move out (hop, do not talk to them and do not save.)

for optimal results, set your switch time to around 12-2pm, that's when most villagers are out of their homes.

edit: if you want to extend the time you get to island hop, lets say that you get villager A moving out on June 15 at 6pm.

- set switch clock to june 16, 5am.
- island hop for as long as you can stand.
- write down the time on your switch when you stop island hopping.
- save, quit, and make sure you close the game from the home menu
- when you want to hop again, set your switch time to the time you wrote down (I would personally add about 10 minutes, just to be safe)
- continue island hopping! c:

Thanks everyone! Sooo many helpful tips

I'm interested in more information about traveling backwards... It seems to have less side effects. If anyone has more info on that. Just remember I'm considering TT to move out villagers
