A nice update on the Raymond thread I made~

Hi guys! Yesterday I made a thread asking for anyone to help someone who was scammed out of a lot of stuff when trying to purchase Raymond. This thread here~

Well I wanted to give an update for anyone who would be interested, a very kind soul on here gave her Raymond yesterday!!! I won't say her name just incase she doesnt want to be known but i'm so grateful to the user who helped her and so happy that she was able to see the good in players instead of those awful scammers.

But yeah! I wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented, offering help or even just info tips or to give a heads up if they saw him, you've now made a lass feel very happy in the animal crossing community and restored my faith again as well! I love all you guys I hope you are having a wonderful day ❤

That's awesome!!! It makes me very happy to know that not everyone in the AC community is out there to make a quick buck (or in this case, NMT's). Whoever that person was, I applaud them! I hope that person who got scammed enjoys Raymond. These kinds of stories melt my heart honestly (':

Absolutely! Honestly the bell tree though is one of the safest places for trades, theres plenty of greedy buggers on different disc servers but this website has genuinely the most kind and respectful people in anyplace or fandom I've seen, which is also why I told her that she should trade here instead ^^

I agree! Most people on discord are really greedy, so you basically have to stalk servers to get a good deal. (Don't get me started on Nookazon.) Yesterday someone gave me Judy for free and that was the best deal I've ever made on discord. I've made more decent deals here in the past few years than anywhere else! Tbh, more people should know about TBT. There are a lot of new members now, but this place is the best to get a good deal

I get a lot of hate every time I mention my distaste for Reddit and other external sites, but really, there are too many untrustworthy guys out there. Trading here is safer. Everywhere else? You need to verify everything and be super cautious and it's sad and exhausting having to function like that, distrusting every person you see. It's a product of this game's astronomical and unpredicted popularity. Because the game has been exposed to a lot more people than before, you get the bad with the good. It's no longer a small community of fans supporting each other, but a massive economy where there are plenty who are willing to step on others to come up on top.

Gosh I agree with checking over everyone outside of here, I've sold and bought plenty on disc in the past but this was the first time it went quite wrong, compared to here where I've even had people warn me of players on my island to protect myself before anything happened ♡

Btw this is the second time I've read on here about a guy who has tried to scam by accusing the girl he's trading with of being the scammer and getting angry at her after.

Just in case this is helpful to someone if they read this and recognize this behavior in a person they know irl, it's a classic manipulation and abuse tactic. It's called DARVO: deny, attack, reverse victim and offender. Abusive individuals do this irl against their targets, and once you recognize the behavioral pattern it's shocking how predictable it is and how what they do fits into this simple pattern. Everyone should be aware of this pattern to protect themselves irl and online from malignant people.

That's actually really interesting! The first person who scammed her did the exact same thing as well, although they went way further than expected, trying to ruin rep by pretending to be her and making multiple accounts to harass. I'm just glad that there are more than enough people to overcome that, there were so many kind souls not only on here but on nookazon discord offering to help

Some people might worry and become self-conscious and be put on the defensive, trying to explain how they're not doing what they're being accused of doing and defending their behavior instead of focusing on the other person's behavior. But I think mainly, the goal of that tactic is to bewilder you – you're so not expecting that response that you don't really know what to do and sort of back off. While you're bewildered, it's very easy for them to manipulate the situation, take advantage of you, or get away with it.
