I got my campsite built recently and I'm a bit confused as to how it works:
Does every villager who comes camping eventually go to your town?
Because so far I have had 3 and none of them have stayed (good, they were all ugly).
Despite there being vacant spots in my town.

You have to talk to them and they will ask whether or not they should move in your town. They most likely will refuse your invite but you can keep inviting them in hopes they'll finally say yes

Well, you are supposed to talk to the villagers in the campsite over and over and over again until they specificaly tell you they are going to move into your town. (Sometimes they will suggest moving into your town, you will invite them and they will say "No, I dont think Im ready. You just have to keep talking to them until they finaly accept your proposal to move in! Sometimes you have to win against them in a game of charades or rock-paper-scissors for them to say yes.)

Thank god they where all ugly, but now you know!

In my first campsite I always got hippos, rhinos, gorillas, birds and eagles....all my least favorite species at the time. Here's some more campsite advice:always have at least 5000 bells on you,go into the tent with your pockets completely empty(this limits the type of minigames the campers will ask you to play and you won't lose your tools, items, etc. to the campers.Pecan took my fishing rod the first time I played a camper game and it took almost three days before I could get another one) and just keep talking to the camper until they agree to move to your town(that's only if you want them to move to your town).

The only thing to keep in mind is that they can't really say no to you, if you have less than 10 villagers. Some may seem really stubburn but everyone gives in at some point, you just have to insist long enough.

If you want to get some of the Camper exclusive items, make sure you have some room in your pocket and some bells on you (5,000+) but make sure you don't have anything in your pocket that you aren't willing to hand-over to the camper if they win a game. If you don't want any item from the camper, go in with your pocket full of seashells or flowers (doesn't matter how many bells you have). If you want them to move in, just keep talking to them over & over & over. If they say "No", just keep at it. Of course this only works if you have 9 or less villagers in your town (including someone in boxes or house plot).
Good Luck.
