a dumb question about plot resetting

I have a question about plot resetting. I've seen guides where people TT to 5:55am, then save and quit with their mayor character, and then create a new character a few minutes later. What does that do? And if I create a new character after 6am, does plot resetting still work?

Basically, if they create a new character, they can check if the plot is in a place they like. If they like the placement, they can continue through the tutorial and save after the tutorial is completed, securing the placement of the house. If they don't like the placement, they can quit without saving, deleting the character and resetting the plot. Rinse and repeat until satisfied. As for creating a new character after 6am, I'm not sure, sorry. All I know is that you MUST NOT log into your mayor at all from 6am until you save on the new character and save the plot location.

To be honest I don't understand that part about logging on before 6 and then again after....maybe I'm just thick haha
I've always just tt'd to the next day (any time, don't load up with my mayor first) and then start plot resetting....never had a problem. Just thinking now why the reason for loading up with the mayor first would be but I really don't know....
I've done the same with 9 villagers of mine without an issue

You TT to 5:55 A.M. with your mayor if you just want to change the in-game clock and not mess with your 3DS clock. If you are willing to change the 3DS clock, then you just TT after 6:00 and then create a new character.

Ah I see! That makes sense. I just automatically change the 3ds

Its because in the game the new day starts at 6am. I do that because i tt using my mayor so it ensures that i dont accidentally get a character i want to plot reset to put it there permanently and then i just keep plot resetting till they put it where i want it.
