A couple of parts of my island are straight up copies of ideas I got from videos, instagram, etc.

When people share stuff online, they need to assume people will take inspiration; that's what their posts are for. You can always give credit, but don't worry about something like that. It isn't like you plagiarized an essay or you stole someone's art piece and claimed it as your own. It's a video game! 😂

I don't think there's anything wrong with incorporating certain peoples ideas into your island. If they didn't want that to happen I don't think they would share them in the first place :)

Oh, I know and I agree. I just want to give credit. :)

Thanks for all the responses! I’m going to do my best to credit areas that are outright copies. I just feel better, and maybe somebody else can get inspired by them as well! 😊

Don't worry about it. There's no way that you can be 'punished' for recreating a design, and no one is going to care in the long run. It's just an island in Animal Crossing- you still went to a certain amount of work to set it all up anyway!

I wouldn't worry about it. Perhaps if it's really an exact copy you may want to give credit when you post your dream address? Personally I think even that's not really necessary, but I suppose it would be considerate.

Well that's very admirable of you :)

I have a daughter who's a professional artist, so I'm sensitive about this. I know animal crossing decorating is not exactly the same, but it's made me very aware of giving credit where it's due.

That's great :) so many amazing artists don't get the credit they're owed, especially on the internet.

If everything is exactly the same, placement of furniture etc., like others have said on here, I think you should give credit to the person you copied from!
But if it’s loosely based on something and you’ve made changes to the design and it’s not identical, I think you’re probably safe not to? Like, there’s only so much furniture and patterns in the game that it can’t be avoided that designs for say, cafes, libraries and other places might look similar to each other.

Little bits and pieces are perfectly fine in AC. If you copied a whole island that would be suspicious but I’d be more judgmental that you spent that much time copying rather than doing your own thing.
